On our way to Oualidia from Venice, we had to spend a night in Casablanca and based on the few reviews I could find on tripadvisor, my friends and I booked into this hotel.
The hotel would probably be quite nice, if it was for the damp. Being on the coast and subject to the mist that comes in, our bedrooms were extremely damp. The bed covers weren't clean though the room was big and the smell, we think from the air-con was awful. Very basic amenities and breakfast was a choice of cornflakes, or old croissants.
The staff are quite nice and helpful and that's the main reason the hotel got 3 stars. I can't comment on it's location though it seemed fairly central. As you pass the Hyatt and other big luxury hotels on the way in from the airport, you will wonder why you booked this place. However for a 1 night stay the price makes up for it. At £70 including breakfast, it's good enough.
Like most people I'm sure, I had some pre-conceptions on what Casablanca would be like and my advice to others would be to discard them all. Casablanca reminds me a bit of Slough. It's the economic centre of Morocco, the cafes and bars are full of men and men only and I didn't feel particularly at ease walking to the car rental place. It's a world apart from other areas of Morocco.
