Visited the Caribbean Village Agador for 11 nights in January. As suggested by previous reviewers, I emailed the hotel a few days in advance to request a quiet room on a high floor with a large sunny balcony, and if possible, a sea and pool view! I didn't get a reply but we did get the room as requested, in Block 31 (see photo of Hotel layout).
The weather was perfect. Sunny with endless blue skies, great for getting a tan without having to worry too much about burning. I started on SPF 10 going down to SPF 6 without any problems. We sunbathed every day between about 10.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. Plenty of sunbeds with no need to rush out early and get the towels down, the hotel being only about one quarter full with about 500 guests.
However early morning and early evening were decidedly chilly! Take lots of layers/warm things for the dining room and bars. Our room was cold at night and even with an extra blanket, I still slept in several layers and cashmere socks! Our room had air con but it was the heater we used! We were jolly glad of the roaring log fires in the lobby bar in the evening!
We ate in the main Oasis buffet restaurant every meal. We always found plenty of choice, with great salads, stews, meats, fish and fantastic french bread. Pudding toppings were a bit bland, which was a shame as the pastry bases were all superb. Compliments to the pastry chef! At breakfast I managed to get the wholemeal bread I liked every morning even though it was never put out on display.
We tipped little-and-often in the dining room and were well looked after for our entire stay, our table being laid and our glasses of red wine awaiting us!
A special mention for Tarik at the buffet counter who was a complete joy, taking the trouble to get to know a lot of guests and encouraging them to eat the different foods on offer.
We did not try any of the speciality restaurants so I can't comment on them and neither did we watch any of the shows. We did visit the Shisha tent every evening which was a lot of fun. A big Thank You to another Tarik there, for keeping up with our demands for gin & tonics and mint teas!
Our days quickly settled into a lazy routine but we did venture out along the prom for a long walk every day at dusk to watch the glorious sunsets over the sea. We walked as far as the marina and the fish market, both well worth a visit. The new promenade is a triumph! I last visited Agadir in 1981 and it wasn't there then!
I took a travel hairdryer with me and a travel kettle although these can be hired there. My hub joined the gym which was an extra £30 or so.
Do visit the Bird Park in Agadir and do sample the amazing fresh orange juice (about £1.60) on sale at the Creperie kiosk at the hotel.
Our All Inclusive holiday booked through Thomsons cost approx. £450 each. An absolute bargain for an 11 day sunny break in the middle of winter!
I would definitely go back!
