“Splendid hotel (after my initial impression of it being a french Butlins)”

This was my first experience of an all-inclusive hotel. We were here for two days having previously been in a small 2 star where we blended in with local life. It came as somewhat of a shock therefore when the animation team were firing everyone up after lunch in what seemed a vaguely disrespectful way; it seemed at first both intrusive and somewhat dehumanising. (I also failed to understand as well why the animators felt it necessary to wander around the restaurant saying "bon appetit" when the diners were clearly enjoying themselves and didn't need further input or wishes on the matter.)

That moan apart, this was a splendid place to stay. Because of the above comments, I stayed away from the pool area, and enjoyed the seafront and the first class catering in the restaurant and snack bar.

The hotel's position is very good indeed, on the seafront and the edge of the main pedestrian boulevard that leads you to the well-appointed and attractively constructed marina towards the north of the bay.

The service ,the staff and the location of this hotel was first class ,the food was excellent a different theme every day ,the food presentation on newyears eve was out of this world ,the whole hotel team were fantastic from check in to check out . The animation team were so friendly and invited us to join in the activities which we declined , they always came and sat with us and talked on a personal level , as the the majority of the guests were french and of course the main language talked , 90% of the staff talk excellent english so we were not left out of anything ,my only complaint about our stay was the lighting in our room was a bit dull, i cannot praise the whole team in the hotel enough ,we will certainly come back here again.

“Had a good time”

Have just returned from this hotel and I must say that we really enjoyed it. Was a bit dubious about the hotel before we arrived as normally stay in slightly more expensive places and reviews I had read were not that complimentary. There were very few English guests in the hotel and the staff mostly spoke French which wasn't a problem for us but I can understand why some people wouldn't like it. The rooms were basic but we had a seaview room and found that the cleanliness was good - sheets changed every day, room & public areas all clean and garden area well kept. The meals were good - plentiful and each day a different themed menu for Dinner. We found the staff to be exceptionally pleasant and friendly. The animation team were good & worked extremely hard although all games etc in French & music not to everyone's taste - we however got used to it. Hotel is well positioned & we would certainly return in the future.

Choose Royal Decameron because trip advisor ratings were good. I travelled with my husband and friends. We had three seperate rooms, but all were next to each other so that was handy. First impressions were very good, and they remained that way. The first language is French and some staff can speak very basic english. We all got by with no problems. the food is delicious and there is plently of choices to choose from. Make sure you book the other restaurants because the food is also lovely. I dont drink alchol, but the people who i were with did, and they reported no problems. The hotel is very clean, and although the rooms are very basic, you do not spend any time in them, other than to sleep, shower and change. There are plenty of cats in the actual hotel, but they were not too much of a pest. One night we even had a camel, come to visit us, and an old woman baking fresh bread in a clay oven which was good. The beach is fine, not the best, not the worst, and there is a private area for our hotel to use. There is no bar on the beach ( i assume because it is a muslim country) . There is the harbour just outside the hotel, well a small walk away really. Staff are very welcomming, but be sure to tip as they really like that. My only negative it that we were there for the festival (slaughtering animals) and so this did upset me a bit, but i am in their country and i have to respect that, even though i did voice my opinion. If your choosing to stay in Marakech, i would advise staying in agadir, and doing a day trip. Marakech is very dirty and grubby and although quirky and rather fun, english people here would soon become quite ill. Be very careful also visiting Marakech as there are pick pockets about. The locals will assume you need all their items from there shops, but either ignore or say no and walk away. Make sure you haggle for prices, estimate in your head the very last price you would pay, and stick to that, they will make the prices high to start. All in all a lovely time, and if i wanted to return to Morocco, i would choose this hotel.

“not for english”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

thehotel was nice and bar staff friendly, our room had a very strong smell of sewerage!! we had 2 young children with us and although there were lots of other children there ours were not made welcome by the animation team because they we were not french! on one occasion they came ovet to see if my children wanted to join them for some games then they realised we were english and ignored us throught our holiday! the food was ok but again cateted for the french! i would not reccomend this hotel to english as you willnot feel welcome.
