“Great value and very friendly.......”

Just spent five days at the Argana, and would happily have stayed longer. Despite other reviews complaining about staff, noise, food, decor et al we found it a perfectly good hotel.

As has been mentioned recently, the staff were very discreet and did not hassle you. The restaurant staff were very helpful and all (bar one) spoke several languages and were very friendly. The pool bar staff were very attentive without being intrusive and the general staff were also very good.

We can certainly agree about the value and quality of the pool snacks, and the pricing was good for a hotel of it's size, although slightly more expensive than some outside bars (although for high prices, the 'English Bar down the road took all the prizes)

Some have complained about cleanliness, but I can only say that we had absolutely no complaints - the pool and surrounding area were cleaned religiouslly every morning, the rooms were spotless and the other public areas were regularly being cleaned.

My wife, daughter and son-in-law all had massages in the hotel spa (cheaper than others in the area) and were surprised at the quality and value of them.

I used the (free) gym and found that equally good.

One reviewer has mentioned noise from the bar area - they must have been very unlucky as there was virtually none whilst we were there, although this may of course change in high season as there is an outside seating area that is overlooked by some rooms.

With regard to the decor, there is a fair amount of refurbishment being done (very discreetly and with virtually no intrusion into the guests' routine) including both interior and exterior painting, new furniture, matresses etc, so by summer I would imagine the place will look somewhat up-to-date.

All in all, a very good value stay and we would very definitely return at the earliest opportunity

Room Tip: Try for a sea-view - the views can be great - but remember some rooms do not have a superb view of t...

Just got back from a week at the argana, we have stayed there 4 or 5 times now and found it to be a friendly, good, clean Hotel, the pool area is like a little oasis with good clean sunbeds where you are left alone and not pestered by staff trying to get you involved, the bar and snack area is cheap and very good quality and always served with a smile, the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels on request, the breakfast is always good with a great variety of food. An all round good experience every time.

“Noisy Neighbours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I would agree with all of the previous reviewers that the staff are 'wonderful, friendly, etc' HOWEVER. What none of the reviews mention are the other guests. My wife and I spent a week in the Argana in late January. We booked a junior suite for what we assumed would be an additional luxury. If the suite was luxury, I dread to think what the standard rooms are like. The suite element was an extended balcony, which was very pleasant during the day. However, during the evening/night we discovered that this 'suite' was directly over the bar, and that the hotel was popular with residents who enjoyed a 'sing sing' well into the early hours. I learned from other hotel guests that the bar staff encourage these sing songs as they are very profitable to the hotel. I have no objection to this, provided that guests who would like a decent nights sleep on their holiday are made aware of this.

Room Tip: Unless you like out of tune sing songs late into the night, avoid anything overlooking the pool.

“A good place to go”

I was in Agadir for business rather than pleasure so I didn't make full use of the facilities e.g. the pool. Nor did many other people because despite a January air temperature of 23C there was a brisk wind off the sea.

This is a good, friendly hotel, although rather empty I thought. Colleagues in Agadir were saying that visitor numbers are generally down with the cold wind of recession reducing the number of guests from the frozen north i.e. the Eurozone etc. The lack of visitors meant that the dining room was a rather quiet, and actually a bit depressing on a January night when you're on your own and its dark outside by 6.30 pm

I used the bar for a quiet drink or two and wifi. A little modernisation wouldn't come amiss, and perhaps wall insulation between some bedrooms as well, or maybe a notice asking guests to converse more quietly at night.

The hotel was booked for me by colleagues in Agadir. they made a good choice

Room Tip: Ask to face the sea
