The reason that this hotel gets an average score is due to its employees who were very service-minded and accommodating. I especially like the guy at the pool who would ask me if I'd like "More Vitamin" and then brought me a pint of beer.
However, already when you're shown to your room the first day, the hotel employees make you feel like you "owe" them. At first, I was taken to a pretty lousy room and when the piccolo saw the expression on my face, he said: "For you, my friend - I will upgrade you", and then I was taken to the room that, I am pretty sure, I booked in the first place. Funnily enough, he had brought the keys to both rooms which kinda gave him away.
And then; you have to pay 100 MAD if you accidentally lose your beach/pool towel. You have to pay to use the internet at the hotel. You have to pay to use the hotel room's safety box.
Do not say yes to a room close to the reception/bar area if you want a nice a quite holiday; the male entertainer and his two back up girls sing the same old songs extremely loud every single evening between approx. 8 to 11.30. I was there to relax and read so especially this point was pretty annoying. The same could be said about the fact that animals and smoking were allowed at the hotel.
After my first day at Beach Club Hotel I informed the staff that my bath tub couldn't hold the water, which was never fixed. It happened three times that my minibar was refilled which eventually led to that I paid about 100 MAD more than I was supposed to. When I left the hotel, I could see from the specification that I'd also been charged for drinks that I never touched in the minibar. I informed the reception about this, but they didn't care.
According to the posters of the gym that had been put up a couple of places in the hotel, it looked like a relatively new gym, but I can honestly say that it was the worst and most outdated hotel gym I have ever seen and that says a lot.
In summation, check up on your minibar bill from time to time and do your weight training before the trip. This hotel is not for you if you're between 15 and 50 years old as approx 80 % of the guests were probably older than 50.
