The entrance and the reception area are impressive. On one the side of the reception, just pass the bar area, there is this spacious clean beautifully decorated sitting area.
Checking in is relatively straightforward, and there is always a porter on hand to help with the luggage to your room.
Some of the staff are indifferent and sometime don’t seem to take you seriously unless you are generous with tipping them
The place is a maze of blocks. These blocks are negotiated through some steps. There are no lifts to get to higher rooms. The rooms are very basic. Some are actually for self caterers. But they all are decorated in the same style. Air conditioning was working in my room, and there was no problem getting hot water in the bathroom and sink. But the head of the shower kept coming off the hook. It took two days of complaint before it was fixed. There was no TV for those who prefer to have one in their rooms. There is just one TV near the bar at the reception
There are 3 outdoors swimming pools, including one for the kids. No indoors swimming pool.
One floor up from the reception there is another huge foyer. I understand that this where the odd evening entertainments take place. Any scheduled entertainment taking place is normally advertised on a board by the reception.
Another floor up is the restaurant. Breakfast is poor. It is the same everyday with not much to choose from. Just Bread, butter, salad, poor quality cereal, some very thin slices of some meat, cheap fruit juice squash, tea & coffee. However there is a lady who does some freshly cooked pancakes or omelettes. She tends to be busy, so you need to be patient.
By the main swimming pool there is a snack bar that does cooked food for a charge (unless it is included in your package.
For people with allergy to cats, be aware. The place looks like a colony of cats. They are everywhere.
The hotel is located within 5 minutes walk down a steep flight of steps to the beach and within two minutes to the main street Boulevard 20 Oaout. This strip of road is full of some top class restaurants and bars. Most famous with the Brits is the English Pub (Very pricey compare to the UK). There are also awfully a lot of souvenir shops, a couple of bureau of change and a post office.
Conclusion: A cheap basic hotel in a great location. Shame about some members of staff
Room Tip: Choose a room in the middle of the complex to avoid the noise coming from the English pub and the tr...
