I don't want to sound too harsh on this hotel as it served its purpose but it wasn't all good! The 'moated' entrance and ornately tiled (tho very dim) lobby are promising but the furnishings are rather dated, not a huge problem per se but the large (and completely unnecessary) number of rugs are, quite frankly, often revolting- worn and not convincingly clean! The outside area is very kitsch with what I christened lego umbrellas. The bigger pool on the second floor seems a bit redundant now the large adjoining roof terrace has been built on, tho we thought the strange zoo like windows looking into the water from the ground floor were cool! The twin beds were small- length and width, the pillows were more like cushions and not particularly user friendly. In general the bathroom had a hospital feel about it. Our biggest complaint however was with our toilet! The increasingly pungent smell of pee bought the leak to our attention. How we'd missed that the mat had become saturated I do not know. Swiftly dealt with by maintenance and a rather liberal supply of bleach used to clean the floor were both welcome actions. Placing the saturated mat on our balcony to 'dry' was not. Eau de pee wafting through the balcony doors everytime they opened... yay! Later, as we passed through the lobby, the receptionist asked if all was ok with our toilet. He then called us 5 minutes later in the room to ask if we would like to go for a drink with him (we being 2 girls). Not entirely appropriate behaviour. The toilet stopped flushing that evening but as we were making our Agadir escape at 4am we lived with it. Oh, and did I mention the token cockroach?
