“Far too French but okay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Overall it was a good holiday however there were quite a few things that put a damper on our holiday. The first thing being our room- the paint was chipped the balcony dirty and the bathroom was in quite bad condition. Secondly, we were constantly bothered around the pool to join in with activities and when we didn't were told we were 'boring' and 'lazy' so one day we did join in with a game of darts and was completely left out as everything was in French! Likewise, the entertainment, music and shows that were put on were all in French therefore making us feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated to even sit in the lobby in the evening,

However, we let that the location, food and waiters service made up for this- one night a waiter even made someone who had finished their food move so we could eat! We also did an excursion to a fantasia evening which we would highly recommend. Therefore it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Get a family room on the ground floor as we were told they were much nicer

“Nice hotel, but not geared towards the english”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The hotel has been refurbished and is really tastefully decorated. There is a nice pool area and the restaurant serves lovely authentic Moroccan food. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. There is also a private area of the beach which is lovely, although it can get very windy.

The only down side for me was being english as everything is in french. Some of the staff speak english, but as their second language is french, not many of them learn it.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room overlooking the pool and with adequate lighting.

“Like a Bad French Disco - Don't Bother!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Whilst the hotel is good value, the food good, in a good position and some of the staff helpful there is a culture that is designed to exclude English speakers. All entertainment, notices, announcements, activities were exclusively in French. Some staff tried to speak English on a one to one basis but not for any events. The entertainment team were a constant nuisance from 0930 - 1700 around the pool area with very loud music blasting out only interrupted by equally loud shouting of coming events, in French. They walked around the pool effectively harrassing people and, if you had the cheek to fall asleep in the sun, they would wake you up to shout at you in French. We would not recommend this hotel unless you are French and deaf!

Room Tip: Try and get a family room like Room 4 for space and peace and quiet

“English All Inclusive experience at the Almohades hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Reception staff couldn't understand hardly a word we said, we found it extremely difficult to communicate with them.

Meal times were like feeding time at the ZOO...the French people were always pushing in and generally taking all the food as soon as it appeared on the trays.

2 members of our party managed to get a very bad dose of Stomach Upsets, including many visits to the toilets...we could only put this down to the food..after talking to other english people this seemed a common thing.

Restaurant staff were mostly very helpful and pleasant...but one waiter decided to run out of the restaurant after us one evening almost demanding a tip because he was going to be off for a few days...only to find 2 days later he was back working..this behavour in particular made us less likely to provide tips for any other restaurant staff.

The food was very plain, not spicy and tasty as we had hoped for, the morrocan night food was particularly poor.

Entertainment was plenty around the pool area, although all in French, so we couldn't understand what was going on or get involved.....we did however manage to play some of the French at the Petanque competitions which was fun.

Evening entertainment was again all in French, bar area music and singing, plus the cabaret in the conference room during the evening was all in French, so whilst we understood some of the themes etc, it was difficult to follow.

The bar at pool side and in main lounge was at times a little slow, but generally ok

Rooms were very tidy and clean, ( this is one of the real plus sides ) the cleaners worked very hard, we had 3 rooms and they were all very well looked after by the cleaing staff.

Overall hotel was in good order, facilities were quite good around the grounds.

Throughout the holiday Mamara staff (Animation Team) spent many hours sitting and talking with the French people because they understood the language...if they came to our party only 2 out of all the staff talked to us for any length of time, we may of been more likely to enjoy some of the poolside games and join in more if they had tried to communicate with us more.

Room Tip: All the garded view twin rooms we had were a good size, air conditioned, tv, good balcony etc..

“5 nights Sept 2011 - ENGLISH COUPLE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Atlas Almohades (formally Ramada)

LOCATION - Great location, couldnt be better, although doesnt have a sea view. Set just outside the busy promonade abd only 3 minutes from the beach

TAXI - Taxi to the airport was 150dirham, don't book through the hotel as they will charge more. The airport is rouhgly 40 minutes away

HOTEL - It's a little bit of a stange hotel, set on a few floors. It is a little dated and could have been a little cleaner and well kept.
It is great for a quick cheap get away for groups and families, but isn't a hotel for a romantic getaway.
You will need to pay for a safe as you don't get it free

POOL - The pool is average size and there is lots going on around the pool, which everyone seems to join in with. Dancing, games etc.. Although everything is spoken in French so were a little out of the loop.
Staff around the pool tired to involve everyone and everyone seemed to love them.

BEACH - The hotel has a private section of the beach which is 3 minutes away. It will get busy after lunch so try and head down there beforehand.
You can oay rouhgly 20dirham to go onto another section with sunbeds, or you can opt for the free sections of the beach but you will get bugged by the sellers.
You can pick up a jet-ski for 15 minutes for around 200dirham and also a surf board for the same.

FOOD - We were only B&B at this hotel. The breakfast was ok, and the other food looked good although we didn't eat there.

I think this hotel would be great for people on a quick getaway wanting to have fun, likes to get involved and speaks French. You will feel a little left out if you don't speak French.

Room Tip: Call before you arrive to make sure you get a double
