“Wide open space in front of the Atlantic”

This is another of the wonderful Sofitels in Morocco. Situated furthest away from the city center, but facing a fantastic beach front. It a brisk 45 minutes walk alon the corniche to the Agadir Marina. We enjoyed the evening walk along the long row of first class hotels and restaurants. Agadir is a very modern city and is more like modern tourist towns in southern Spain than the traditional Moroccan city, like Marrakech which is only an hour and a half away from Agadir on the new, efficient motorway.
The hotel has all the facilities and the swimming pool and garden are well designed. We had asked for a room with balcony which was very pleasant. The minibar was warm when we arrived, but that was fixed immediately. The bed and pillows made for a peaceful night.
The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but the egg stand could only fry. No poached eggs.
Only small point is that the otherwise very attractive design with wide open spaces and open hallways lead to difficulties with heating in the winter and cooling in the summer.
Next door the brand new Sofitel Thalasso will open in a month. Will have to check that out next time in Agadir.

“Friendly staff make all the difference”

In large hotels like this you are never sure what to expect - the Sofitel Agadir, was the most friendly chain hotels I have ever stayed in - the staff really were a delight
We ate in the so good restaurant for three out of four nights, as the food was excellent, a little disappointed that there were only two restaurants open during our stay and that the hotel did like to keep their menus a mystery - on the last night we discovered that they have a full afternoon tea menu, cocktails and serve sushi we would definately have eaten more snacks in the hotel if we had known, so do ask.
Breakfast was excellent - control the birds coming in and breakfast would have been outstanding.
The hotel organised a local taxi driver to take us to the souk - he was wonderful - didn't overcharge and even parked up his cab and took us around, so don't believe all that you read.

Anytime we go to Morocco we spend our first/second night at the Sofitel. It's an ideal way to start your holiday. The hotel is beautiful. The service is excellent without being intrusive. The pool area is fabulous. The food is good, breakfast is delicious. When booking make sure breakfast is included as it's quite expensive otherwise. The rooms are a decent size and the decor is lovely. The first time we were there we went to the nightclub which was good fun. The drinks are pricey but once you're aware of this there's no issue.

“Total relaxation...”

We stayed from NYE for one week. Absolutely beautiful hotel. Service was good overall. We stayed in a garden view room - the room itself was a reasonable size, very comfy bed, well equipped bathroom with L'occitane products and good shower/bath. But obviously lacked a view. The pool area, garden and beach are absolutely beautiful. Lots of space, daybeds, hammocks and sun beds. Great service from beautifully dressed waiters/pool guys. Food served at pool (like most of Agadir) is priced as high as anywhere in Europe and the quality is mediocre, The breakfast is great though. As usual with 5 Star hotel, prices in the hotel for water, drinks etc are high - water €4 per bottle, beer €6 for can. It's a super hotel to relax in for a week in the sun. Hotel has great facilities, restaurants, nightclub/bar, and lovely lobby area to relax in. Very tastefully presented.

“Comfortable and relaxing break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My wife and I had an enjoyable 4-day break at the Sofitel Agadir in January 2012. The aim was to relax in some winter sun, following a difficult year health-wise for my wife. We have stayed at other Sofitels often in the past, and know what to expect - a high level of comfort and service, but without the overbearing attention that can make some top class hotels quite unpleasant. The Sofitel Agadir fully met our expectations - without exceeding them. The room was very comfortable (if a little on the £compact" side - a smaller bed would have made it seem less cluttered) and spotlessly clean. The pool/beach/grounds were heavenly, and the food was tasty and substantial if a little unadventurous. The only drawback is that the hotel is a 40 minute walk from the town, though taxis are cheap and plentiful. We shall return!
