Spend the money and go somewhere else. Only stayed there because they took pets. Hotel smelled like bad Indian food.

While traveling through Iowa, I needed a place to stay. I stopped at other hotels and they were over priced. Then I went to the Days Inn and found out that they had just remodeled. I had been there in the past and it was OK, so I thought that I would try it again. I stayed in room 216 and it was GREAT! IMy bed at home isn't as comfortable as the new ones that they have there. I will be back. They had new beds, new carpet, new paint, towels, everything. Chad at the front desk was wonderful.

Some Days Inn are great, some aren't, and this one is in the "definite not" category. While it was clean, the hotel itself is simply in poor shape and needs overhaul. Cracks, worn out carpet, outdated furniture. The price and location are good, but there are definitely nicer options with good value around the immediate area. Breakfast highlights were muffins wrapped in celephone bags.

We always stay at this hotel when visiting Ankeny, which is 3-4 times a year. It is a great value for the price, centrally located, easy to get to and we've never had any major problems. One time when we checked in, we were assigned to a room that hadn't been cleaned, but the front desk person was quick to switch us to a room that was a little higher priced.

We have noticed that the smoking and non smoking rooms are bunched up together, but have never had a problem with smoke coming into our non smoking rooms. Sometimes the smell of smoke is a little strong in the hallways, but nothing that is intolerable.

We enjoy and appreciate the free Continental breakfast because there is a lot of variety. The rooms are always clean and pleasant, but this isn't the Ritz Carlton, so don't expect "fancy digs"!! We've had a problem with a chair being wobbly, but nothing serious as far as bad furniture. The beds are always very comfortable and the mattresses we've had have been nice and firm.

Overall, we plan on staying at this Days Inn whenever we visit Ankeny. Unless we have a major problem that isn't promptly taken care of, we are loyal customers.
