Mapquest leads you to wrong location; several miles north of hotel. Tried to call hotel to get proper location, they did not answer the phone (tried for at least 15 minutes).
AC unit rattled and was VERY loud. Cover was falling off. Beds not comfortable.

Stayed one night in a king suite. Very comparable to a Marriott king suite room. Clean and spacious. Fridge and microwave available. Small pool which the kids enjoyed. Kind of pricey for the town IMO. Breakfast was waffles, sausages, danishes and the usual otast, cereal, bagels, etc. All in all a good stay.

We stayed two nights at the Hampton in Ames. We found that even though we had non-smoking room we were right next to the smoking rooms and so could still smell cigarette and cigar smoke. After the first night my wife talked to the front desk and they upgraded us to a suite in another part of the hotel. This room was very nice and spacious and did not smell smoky. There are restaurants not too far away - at the next exit.

We had to leave early for business technically before the breakfast was open. An employee got us brown bags and loaded them up with apples, bananas, muffins, and even brought out the eggs early to see if we wanted any. The room was nice and clean. Great for business or for that matter anything that brings you into Ames!
