“Here's my horror story...OWNER IS SLIME!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

Where to begin? We paid for all of our expenses for three people on Hotwire. We were told when we got there that Hotwire didn't book a room for three. It booked a room for two. Unless one of us wanted the floor, we had to pay $20 extra for a room with another bed. That put this crappy little hotel room at about $80. This was not some teenage kid who didn't know what he was doing - it was the owner! He's a real piece of work and can barely speak English.

Then we went to the actual room. It smelled musty/moldy. The carpets were grossly stained.

At about midnight I woke up to a completely freezing room. I checked the heat. It seemed that in the middle of an Iowa December, the prudent thing to do to save money is turn the heat off on customers you've already cheated. We called the front desk, where the did not seem surprised, and they sent over someone with a space heater. A tiny space heater for the entire room! It had gotten so cold that the windows were coated in thick frost.

On to the next morning, we went to take showers and some of the towels were obviously refolded from the very last room occupants and put on the shelf. When we requested new ones we were treated like we were an annoyance.

At breakfast, which we decided not to eat after seeing the owner's ganges-like business practices, we saw donuts, other carb-laden foods and a few pieces of fresh fruit.

AVOID THIS PLACE! It is not okay to treat customers like this. I'd keep driving. You're not that far from Council Bluffs. More options.

“BEDBUGS!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

Stay away...far, far away from this hotel. Needed a place to sleep...and everyone else was full. Wish we had slept in the car. We had two rooms. And without exception, we all had bedbug bites covering our bodies the next morning. Disgusting. Words fail...really.

“Worst Super 8 ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

Old old motel. Very old dirty carpet. Light in room between beds not working, lights on the back side of the building not on, so very dark. Sink faucet broken. Would never stay here again!

“From a guy who is not picky, this place was horrendous”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

I stayed at this Super 8 on my way back from South Dakota, where I spent a summer working on an Indian Reservation. On the Reservation I lived in a run down little house with incests, poor water, no air conditioning, and faulty appliances - yet I would still choose that dump over this Super 8.

First off, the location is great, right off of I-80. That's about all the positive things I can say. My floor was disgustingly squishy, my room was right next to a loud gentleman and the walls were paper thin. My sink was full of hair, nasty, stringy old lady hair. My view of wooded area would have been nice, had my window not been glossed over with what looked like a combination of projectile vomit, boogers, and, yet again, old lady hair. The topping on the cake, as the other poster mentioned, were the doors that were wide open all night long. THEY NEVER SHUT THE DOORS TO THE PLACE. This may not have been so bad, except the lock on my door barely worked. I could easily pull the door open with a hard tug, even with the lock set. To go to Subway for my lovely dinner, I had to pack up all my valuables and carry them with me.

Avoid this place like the plague, drive the extra 50 or so miles and stay somewhere in Des Moines!!

“worst night ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

I needed to stop driving at 11 pm and stopped off of I-80 at this Super 8. I have stayed in many Super 8's before as they are convenient, cheap and pet friendly. This was the WORST hotel I have stayed in. I could hear EVERYTHING that was going on upstairs, the water noise from the toilets. sink and bath sounded like they were in my bed. SO LOUD! The room was pretty grimy and the outer doors were not locked. Had I known that I would not be able to sleep because of the noise, I would have just continued driving.
