Where to begin? We paid for all of our expenses for three people on Hotwire. We were told when we got there that Hotwire didn't book a room for three. It booked a room for two. Unless one of us wanted the floor, we had to pay $20 extra for a room with another bed. That put this crappy little hotel room at about $80. This was not some teenage kid who didn't know what he was doing - it was the owner! He's a real piece of work and can barely speak English.
Then we went to the actual room. It smelled musty/moldy. The carpets were grossly stained.
At about midnight I woke up to a completely freezing room. I checked the heat. It seemed that in the middle of an Iowa December, the prudent thing to do to save money is turn the heat off on customers you've already cheated. We called the front desk, where the did not seem surprised, and they sent over someone with a space heater. A tiny space heater for the entire room! It had gotten so cold that the windows were coated in thick frost.
On to the next morning, we went to take showers and some of the towels were obviously refolded from the very last room occupants and put on the shelf. When we requested new ones we were treated like we were an annoyance.
At breakfast, which we decided not to eat after seeing the owner's ganges-like business practices, we saw donuts, other carb-laden foods and a few pieces of fresh fruit.
AVOID THIS PLACE! It is not okay to treat customers like this. I'd keep driving. You're not that far from Council Bluffs. More options.
