“Great Location off I-80 (Restaurant/Gas/Lodging)!”

In Iowa, I noticed there weren't alot of places with food, gas, lodging all at the same place just off the interstate. After driving for a while, my friend and I finally found Adair. We stayed at the Super8 on 10/7/11. It was a good room. Bathroom was roomy. Plenty of channels on the tube. Price for double was about $50 with AAA discount. Good local restaurant right next door (open til 9:30 I think) -- Great food there. Beds comfortable.

After traveling for 7 hours, we just needed a place to sleep. The Super 8 in Adair was just okay. It was either that or the budget motel across the street. We did take advantage of the free breakfast and had a nice time visiting with friendly locals at the Blue Goose tavern in town. If you don't have to sleep in Adair, keep going.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We travel by motorcycles and the Iowa weather was unkind to us. We were soaking wet and looking for a dry place with laundry facilities and wi-fi. This Super 8 fit the bill. The place is tired, but some improvements have been made. The room was clean, the bed was typical flat and stiff.

“On the way to Coon Bowl lll”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

I had a lower room with walss and ceilings so thin that I felt like I was at Niagra Falls when the neighbors used a toilet or shower.

I was double charged for the room, and despite having a void sale receipt, am still waiting for an adjustment from AMEX.

Breakfast room was unattended and out of coffee at 8:30 a.m. The attendant was getting ready to clean rooms.

This is a small town, nothing much to do, but if you get up to Coon Rapids, eat at the Coon Bowl lll. They have the best hamburgers in Iowa.

“Here's my horror story...OWNER IS SLIME!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

Where to begin? We paid for all of our expenses for three people on Hotwire. We were told when we got there that Hotwire didn't book a room for three. It booked a room for two. Unless one of us wanted the floor, we had to pay $20 extra for a room with another bed. That put this crappy little hotel room at about $80. This was not some teenage kid who didn't know what he was doing - it was the owner! He's a real piece of work and can barely speak English.

Then we went to the actual room. It smelled musty/moldy. The carpets were grossly stained.

At about midnight I woke up to a completely freezing room. I checked the heat. It seemed that in the middle of an Iowa December, the prudent thing to do to save money is turn the heat off on customers you've already cheated. We called the front desk, where the did not seem surprised, and they sent over someone with a space heater. A tiny space heater for the entire room! It had gotten so cold that the windows were coated in thick frost.

On to the next morning, we went to take showers and some of the towels were obviously refolded from the very last room occupants and put on the shelf. When we requested new ones we were treated like we were an annoyance.

At breakfast, which we decided not to eat after seeing the owner's ganges-like business practices, we saw donuts, other carb-laden foods and a few pieces of fresh fruit.

AVOID THIS PLACE! It is not okay to treat customers like this. I'd keep driving. You're not that far from Council Bluffs. More options.
