I checked in at 12:30 pm because of severe weather emergency conditions (blizzard) on my way to the Ft. Wayne area. I was waiting out the blizzard and had planned to be back on the road at midnite. The first problem was that the room was as hot as a sauna! I turned down the thermostat and nothing happened. There was a toggle switch on the wall that read "High, Off, and Low" that also didn't do anything. I went to the front desk and was told that all I could do was turn the fan off, and leave the door open to help cool the room down. At around 3:00pm, with the Do Not Disturb tag on the door handle, I was startled when housekeeping started banging on the door to bring in towels. After I tried to settle in again, I thought I was either dreaming or going crazy by hearing voices...three rooms away I could hear and understand a conversation. Then the kids started screaming around the indoor pool, at the far end of the building. The staff was very nice, explained that this was a very old building and that sound carried, so they offered to move me to another wing that they never use. I would have that part of the building all to myself so I could finally get a couple of hours sleep. Well, the room they moved me to had dirty sheets, missing pillow cases, and dead bugs all over. She sent a maintenance man to open the room next door so I could stay there and that room looked like a staff member had been living in it!!! At that point I asked for a refund, they were very apologetic, found me a room down the street at the same rate, and did give a full refund.
