“Below Average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

I typically like to stay in Hilton Brand hotels (Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Doubletree). Maybe I am spoiled by staying at these places. Friends chose this hotel and I didn't want to seem picky, so I agreed.

The place is rough around the edges. Everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the place was in need of some updating. In comparison to another hotel that we stayed at a week later (Days Inn, Tell City), this place was great.

The casino shuttle will pick you up at the door which is very convenient.

If I am staying in Anderson again, I think I will go back to the consistent Hampton Inn.

“We enjoyed our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We were visiting the USA for 1 month. We are missionaries in Haiti. We stayed at the hotel for 4 weeks. We had a nice time while there. The staff was very nice and friendly to us. They took good care fo our needs. The pool was very nice for our kids and they had a lots of fun swimming. The rooms were clean and nice. The fridge kept our food good and cold. The beds were comfortable and nice. We had a very nice stay at the hotel. We hope to stay there again this coming year.

“run down hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2011

My husband and I stayed here for a night and we were very disappointed. The condition of the hotel was poor - very run down and no security at all. On the website where we reserved the room, they stated it is a 2 1/2 star hotel, but it is more like a 1 star. There were holes in the ceiling panels and walls, very thin walls (you could hear every conversation outside our room), and the side doors into the hotel were open all night so anyone could walk into the hotel. We would never stay here again.

“Not a good place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

Rooms were not cleaned. 2 out of 5 rooms toilet did not work. 1 room did not have heat. Bugs in one room. Staff knew 100+ people were staying that night and only had one person running front desk, and only one person running breakfast bar next morning. Breakfast bar ran out of some food. Sheets in all 5 rooms were damp from proximity of indoor pool.

“Do NOT stay here! It's now called the Garden Hotel.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

I checked in at 12:30 pm because of severe weather emergency conditions (blizzard) on my way to the Ft. Wayne area. I was waiting out the blizzard and had planned to be back on the road at midnite. The first problem was that the room was as hot as a sauna! I turned down the thermostat and nothing happened. There was a toggle switch on the wall that read "High, Off, and Low" that also didn't do anything. I went to the front desk and was told that all I could do was turn the fan off, and leave the door open to help cool the room down. At around 3:00pm, with the Do Not Disturb tag on the door handle, I was startled when housekeeping started banging on the door to bring in towels. After I tried to settle in again, I thought I was either dreaming or going crazy by hearing voices...three rooms away I could hear and understand a conversation. Then the kids started screaming around the indoor pool, at the far end of the building. The staff was very nice, explained that this was a very old building and that sound carried, so they offered to move me to another wing that they never use. I would have that part of the building all to myself so I could finally get a couple of hours sleep. Well, the room they moved me to had dirty sheets, missing pillow cases, and dead bugs all over. She sent a maintenance man to open the room next door so I could stay there and that room looked like a staff member had been living in it!!! At that point I asked for a refund, they were very apologetic, found me a room down the street at the same rate, and did give a full refund.
