“Disgusting! NOT WORTH IT!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

For a non-smoking motel the halls and room were saturated with stale smoke. When entering the room the first thing I noticed was the TV remote on the floor and the ironing board next to the bed. I pulled the comforter and blankets back to find wrinkled sheets. The fitted sheet was snug on the top of the mattress, but not on the bottom. There were long hairs on one of the pillows. (If I didn't have a set of my own sheets from staying with a friend the night before I couldn't have slept in that bed!) When entering the bathroom I was hit with a musty mildew smell. The sink and shower faucets were rusty and the shower floor had red/brown stains that I can only hope were rust. The shower walls and curtain had hair all over them. There was a big brown stain on the ceiling tile above the shower from water damage. I was grossed out by the smell of the ONE towel in the bathroom when I grabbed it to dry off. I ended up using my dirty t-shirt instead. The surface of the bathroom counter had dark stains and was chipped. The bathroom doorknob and hair dryer were very sticky and caked with grim. I couldn't bring myself to even touch them! Luckily I had extra socks with me because the bathroom floor was VERY sticky and I didn't want to step on it after getting out to the shower. The bottom of my socks were BLACK from just walking around in the room. Since I only trusted my own sheets, I didn't have a blanket over me so I turned the heat in the room up, which resulted in a slight burning smell. After I turned the TV and lights off for the night, I could clearly hear the people in the next room talking. And I jumped out of bed to turn off the alarm the next morning, only to realize it was the people next door. Aside from the room being disgusting, the super thin walls, the smoky air, and no close parking available, there was also no continental breakfast. The coffee in the lobby did not appeal to me since the cups appeared to be dirty and there was sugar spilled all over the counter. ------------------- The ONLY positive thing about this place was the staff. I checked in pretty late at night and asked for a king size bed and the gentleman at the desk was happy to accomdate me. However, when I checked out early in the morning, I wasn't asked for my key card and the lady was unable to provide me with a recepit.

The free Internet access was limited to a desk in the lobby.

I chose this place based on the three star rating and price. BIG mistake! I wish I would have paid another $10 to stay somewhere even slightly nicer.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

The Aurora Fox Valley Inn accommodates both smoking and non-smoking guests. The hotel does provide a complete smoke free environment in all common areas in agreement with Illinois Law. We do provide individual smoking rooms where guests are allowed to smoke in their room.
In regards to the bathroom condition, it deviates from the housekeeping policy in maintaining our guest room standards. If anything is found out of place in the guest room it is advisable to contact the 24 front desk soon after checkin.
We do not provide continental breakfast at the hotel, however a restaurant is available from 6am to 10pm within walking distance. We are more concerned with offering lower prices for guest stays. We do however provide 24 hour coffee service in our lobby. The coffee center is kept clean throughout the day, however when guest traffic increases for coffee, all of our guests might not upkeep the area as well as the hotel staff.
In concern to our wireless internet, the hotel provides high speed wireless internet access throughout the hotel lobby and in all guest rooms. During the time of the guest stay, our wireless connection was in service in the hotel. The front desk may assist in helping with connection problems.
Depending upon the occupancy of the hotel and banquet functions, parking is ample for all of our patrons. We also have 2 convenient entrances to this L shape hotel.
Receipts are available to all guests except for guests booking through certain internet travel providers. Those in question have an agreement with hotels not to disclose contracted rates. Therefore, you must have your receipt issued by that particular travel provider.
All guest key cards time out automatically at a specific time. So if the guest does not return the key, it is not a major concern because the card sessions out automatically.
The Fox Valley Inn is listed as a 2-3 star hotel that is priced for budget conscious travelers. We meet the basic needs of our guests and provide them value for the price. The Inn can be compared to many chain hotels charging guests much higher prices. We welcome all guest and appreciate their feedback.

“bedbug and ho infested fleapit (but conveniently located!)”

We stayed one night in this hotel with our two daughters, ages 6 and 12. Based on the reviews of other people on this site it seemed like a reasonable deal.

The room reeked of B.O. and the blanket on one of the beds was noticeably filthy with god-knows-what smeared on it. My skin crawled just lying between the sheets. Also, the hotel only provided one towel, one washcloth and one little single-use foil packet of shampoo (for a family of four!). The toilet roll had only a few sheets left on it, and there were no extra rolls so we ran out of TP in the middle of the night (my guess is that they don't provide extra rolls in the room because the regular class of clientele probably steals them). The shower was filthy with mildew everywhere.

The walls of the rooms were really thin, and we could unfortunately quite clearly hear the people in the next room having sex. Questionable people were continuously loitering around in the parking lot and lobby (I was really worried our vehicle was going to get broken into). Many, many people were yelling, slamming doors, arguing and carrying on in the hallways until at least 3am (which was when I finally fell asleep).

My first reaction upon seeing the dingy smelly lobby for the first time was to just go to a different hotel, but my husband said we should give it a chance; I am very sorry I didn't act on my first impulse to get the h*ll out of there. I made the kids shower as soon as they got home today, and I haven't unpacked our luggage, but when I do, I think I'm going to burn the clothes we wore there. It was that gross. In short, it's a bedbug and ho infested flea pit. Avoid it. I have no idea why this hotel got reasonably good reviews from other people. On the bright side though, if you are looking for a conveniently located hotel that probably provides a good hourly rate, this is the place for you!

In June 2010, the hotel had 2 separate sales groups totaling 40 rooms that were sent by travel agents for a 6 weeks stay. Unfortunately, the groups were loud and boisterous. The hotel requested them to be quieter as they were disturbing other guests. However, the groups did not comply with the hotels request and were therefore evicted (after 2 days of stay) during the night. The experience was unfortunate for the hotel and our other guests. It is always our intent to provide a quiet and comfortable environment in our hotel.
In reference to the comment made regarding bedbugs, it is certainly and completely untrue. As this was written well before the bedbug scare in the United States. We here at the Fox Valley Inn are very proud to say that we are bedbug free and have never had bedbugs. This is a statement that numerous top chain hotels can not make. We lost zero guests to that dilemma.
In regards to the guest amenities, our rooms consist of supplies for up to 2 guests. If the guest needs additional amenities, they are available at our 24 hour front desk.
In response to the condition of the room, our housekeeping department is adamant about providing only clean furnishings. If a guest found anything unacceptable they should contact the front desk soon after checking in. We would be very happy to accommodate our guests to ensure their stay with us is comfortable.
In addressing the comment about thin walls, we don't find this to be a common problem because the hotel was built in an era(1970) where materials used were much sturdier than what is used today in construction. Therefore we have been told by many guests, that they didn't hear a thing and had a wonderful rest, leaving the hotel refreshed. Regarding the hotel lobby, it is grand. Reminiscent of a time gone by. When people first enter the hotel, the lobby immediately captures their attention. It was created at a time when things were more spacious in design. Our lobby is certainly not dingy however it reflects a decor of early colonialism.
The hotel has a zero tolerance policy for any activity that is suspicious or appears to be illegal. We also have a high tech security system that has surveillance throughout all public areas of the property. Anything that a guest would find suspicious should be reported to the 24 hour front desk immediately so proper action can be taken if needed. Incidentally, hourly rentals are not permitted by law in the city of Aurora, Illinois and we certainly abide by the law.
All of our staff and management at the Fox Valley Inn strive to make the guest experience a positive one. We encourage repeat business, and in order to this we must be sensitive to our guest needs. We certainly welcome all guests and appreciate their feedback.

“Ok, for one nights sleep, but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2009

In a word, dated. If you are on a budget, need a quick place to get a good nights sleep, and are not looking for any extras, this is your spot. This building is showing its age more than a bit, but is servicable for a good nights sleep. Quiet and esay to the interstate. No breakfast, and the fixtures are showing their age. Also, no elevator. My wife and I had a good night here and may even return some time, but if oyu still have the time and are heading W I would go on to Rochelle for better choices.

“reasonably priced”

This is not the ritz but it is reasonable priced,
The Hotel has very few TV channels but is right across the street from the Priemiem outlet mall.
and is easy to find being right off the I88 tollway exit.
it has a nice lounge and a large out door swimming pool.
The rooms are nothing special just the average fair.
their is no room service and the hotel seems short staffed.
The rooms are very clean but a little out dated.
I have stayed in other Aurora hotels and had to go through some pretty nasty neighborhoods to get to them and did not feels safe parking at them so I desided to give Fox Valley Inn a try.
I will stay at this hotel again because I feel safe there and the staff seem to keep a close eye on things and keep the riff raff out of the place.
