We stayed at the Super 8 due to a wedding at the Great Boars of Fire. It seemed to be the best motel choice in Anna. The other motels didn't look too nice. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but they are the best in Anna. We were greeted by Tiffany who was fabulous and courteous. She knew the area well and helped us with our questions. The other front desk staff weren't as pleasant. When I booked on their motel internet site, it said there were no non-smoking rooms left. I booked a smoking room and requested a non-smoking if it became available. They had already granted the request before I arrived. I was appreciative. The location is convenient. It is very close to Wal-Mart. The rooms are typical of a Motel 8. A bit dated but clean. They provided a continental breakfast which was nothing to speak of. They had a refrigerator with some things in it. You just opened the fridge and picked what you wanted. That is the first time I've experienced that at a motel. There were two types of dry cereal (cheerios and flakes) and store bought cinnamon rolls and bread. The pool was nice and clean and had a 7 a.m. opening which was convenient since we wanted to leave early the next morning. But the kids wanted to swim before we left. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Anna. It is a typical Motel 8.

My Grandfather lived in a small apartment in Anna, and has now moved on to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna, so when I've gone to visit with him, I've stayed at the Anna Super8 a couple of times.

There are two other hotels in the Anna area that my Grampa, being a carpenter, helped to build a LONG time ago (1950s or so). The Anna Plaza motel is one, and I don't recall the name of the other, but I believe it is actually in nearby Jonesboro. They are apparently relatively cheap (about $30/night), but we have not stayed there, choosing instead for the more modern Super8.

There is also now a nice B&B in Anna, the old Davie School. You can find them on the Internet.

The front desk staff of the Anna Super8 is always kind and helpful, but the rooms are definitely starting to show their wear. The carpets were dirty, bedspreads apparently never have been washed and there was persistent mildew in the bathroom.

However, the air conditioner and heating units (we've stayed both summer and winter) worked OK. The sheets seem fresh and clean. The mattresses need replacing. The continental breakfast is minimal, with cereal, juices, coffee and rolls. We have never used the pool. Parking is relatively OK, but the SE corner of the building could be better lit.

Since the Super8 is so handy to Grampa and since the closest modern hotel is either 30 miles north in Carbondale or about 20 minutes South in Ullin, we don't mind staying one or two nights, but at $65+/night, if we stayed longer, we would definitely consider staying in a recently remodeled hotel instead of this Super8.

The Super 8 Motel in Anna is basically your average, mid budget motel. I'd say it's along the line of a Days Inn. I've stayed there 2 or 3 times now, and the rooms have always been clean. The air conditioner is fairly quiet. The indoor pool is nice, and they have a small fitness room as well. The continental breakfast isn't bad. It usually consists of muffins, dry cereal, bagels, and orange juice. They are a bit pricey, considering they are a budget motel, but they kind of have the corner on the market since they are the ONLY decent motel in the area. You'd have to drive 20-25 miles to get to a bigger city with more places to stay.

The only negative would be that the rooms with the in room hot tub means just that: it's right there in the room with you, not in the bathroom. There's not a lot of privacy. However, it seemed to be clean.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this Super 8. The staff is usually courteous, and I've never had a problem with the bill. I'll stay there again, no doubt.
