Connecting flight out of O'Hare was cancelled, and the Wifi at O'Hare was extremely slow, and the only Hotel number I had was Hilton. The airport Hilton was booked and they said the nearest Hilton was the Hilton Garden Inn, 7.5 miles away, and a $22 cab fair. Well, it turns out that it is 17 miles away and a $55 cab fare! When I got to the hotel, front desk staff was telling complaining guest ahead of me that Hilton always told the above story to not lose business to closer in competitors. On the Hotel itself; hotel and and room it self were reasonably nice for the price. Decent sized room and bathroom. Free internet. Decent breakfast spread. Comfortable bed. Negatives: woken up at 7am by loud maids in hall way (after getting in a 2am); Weak coffee at breakfast.

I stayed for three days at this Hilton Garden in January 2011. I arrived early and my room was cleaned and ready to go. The room was a typical HG with a nice and comfortable bed, flat panel TV (unfortunately every hotel hasnt upgraded to 2000's technology yet) and free (but wired) internet in the room.

The staff was great. As a HHGold I did get breakfast each day which was delicious and cooked to order. I also ate dinner one night in the hotel which was also good and cooked to order. The woman that made dinner was also the front desk person. She was running around, but her overwhelmingly pleasant demeanor made the wait acceptable and enjoyable.

If I were to make one suggestion, it would be that the folks in the hotel not be placed so closely to one another when the hotel is not full. I do not think there were more than maybe 20 or 30 folks checked into the hotel, yet all of the people on the sixth floor where in one corner. It added an unnecessary volume in the hallways.

I would recommend this property instantly.

We have never stayed at this hotel chain before. We also stayed at another Hilton Garden Inn on our way home from this trip and we got the same amazing service.

POSITIVE - Front desk staff actually had personality and excellent service! I didn't realize our room was a smoking room and she moved us to a different room immediately with no hassles at all. She was very friendly and wonderful. They do place a hold of $25 on your CC and depending on your bank, it might take days or weeks to be released. After 5 days, the funds had not been released and I called the manager there. She promptly called my bank and told them to remove the hold and they did. I was impressed! We would stay there again for sure. Fridge, coffee pot and microwave in room was a plus!

NEGATIVE - My only complaint - No free breakfast (its $10 per person) but I hear it's wonderful.
