We visit Augusta for medical treatments and have stayed at Econolodge 3 different times, 8 days each and several visits of 1-3 days. This hotel is very convenient to the Doctor's offices, treatment centers, grocery store, pharmacy and any restaurant you could wish for. The hotel is old and needs upgrading but you get good accomodations and service for your money. Emilee and her staff have gone above and beyond to accomodate any and all of our needs. I have been staying in this hotel off and on for several months now, while my father has been receiving treatment at the MCG Hospital. This is clearly the MOST convenient hotel to the hospital and the quality of service from the staff has been superb!!! One particular staff member that has really gone above and beyond is Tasha. Her dedication and kind heart are so refreshing. She has been so helpful to our family and I am always so comforted when I call the hotel to make reservations or enquire about things, when she answers the phone. I know that she will take care of whatever is at hand, and do it very well and I do not have to worry about it any further. I really appreciate everyone at the Econo Lodge Downtown, and their dedication to taking care of the customers. Keep up the good work! God Bless you all!!

This was a very nasty hotel. My father was in the VA hospital across the street from this hotel, which is why I had chosen it. I normally stayed at another hospital but since our entire family wanted to be here for my father's surgery, we thought it would be easier to be across the street from the hospital so that we did not have to drive. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. The carpets were filthy and the room smelled. The walls were dirty. The toilet in our first room was leaking so we had to use the few towels they gave us to keep the toilet water from going all over the place. We then were moved to another room and the bathroom had mold in the shower. The paint or wallpaper was peeling. When you closed the door in the bathroom, it was obvious that they had not swept or mopped the bathroom floors for some time because there was so much dirt and debris and cigarette ashes on the floor. The shower head was so clogged that water sprayed north, south, east, and west and water was all over the bathroom. The shower head was caked with debris/deposits. I know that the maid had to turn the shower on at some time to rinse the shower to see it was clogged (maybe it was never cleaned, which explains the mold). The shower is so old, we had to call the front desk to get directions on how to turn it on. It felt so dirty when I got out of the shower, even though I used a half can of Lysol. The room reaked with cigarette smoke so they sent up a girl to spray it with febreeze, even though the carpet and curtains was probably saturated with the smoke. It is already hard on family members dealing with an illness of a loved one, but it makes it worse to feel like you are so dirty that you don't even need to go to the hospital to visit them for fear of making them sick. The first thing I did when I got home was wash all of my clothes and take a shower in a tub free of mold and that the water goes in a direction that sprays on me and not on the walls and floors. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Shortage of help I feel is the reason some things are being shortcut. But those who are working are doing everything possible to make the stays enjoyable. We have a student at Paine College and this location is just perfect for us to visit and it also allows our student access to us. I am sort of concerned tho that no discount is allowed for Paine College.
Until graduation this is the hotel of our choice.
