The night auditor, Vince, is the absolute bottom of the barrel of the hospitality industry. After arguing with us for several minutes late at night, he finally let us into the lobby. We returned late at night, and though the office was closed, we requested to come in for a quick drink of juice. Vince finally opened the door, but when I walked toward the juice bar, he physically pushed me away. Vince then became inexplicably irate, called 911 to have us arrested (despite the fact that the only way we were able to enter the lobby is that he allowed us inside) and refused to release us from the lobby.
A fortunate series of events occurred when Vince opened the door for a young black woman. This point wouldn't be relevant, but all three of us were white, and Vince repeatedly called us "white boys" and "crackers" during his tirade. He clearly wasn't as threatened by this other guest, as he opened the door for her with no argument or hesitation. At that point, we had already called 911 ourselves to report that we were being held against our will in the Days Inn lobby. Fortunately, we didn't have to waste Athens' resources, as we were able to leave the lobby and finally get to our room.
Vince is a disgrace to the hospitality industry and a liability to your hotel. Had he pulled this harebrained stunt with a more litigious guest, you can be sure that a lawsuit would be pending.
My friends and I are frequent travelers, and you can be sure that we will NEVER again stay at Days Inn, in Athens or elsewhere.
