“A very nice hotel”

The Tegucigalpa Marriot is a very nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, with an awesome bed and extra furniture. The bathroom is new with granite countertops. Its main competitor, down the street, has a slightly better restaurant and bar, and is closer to the mall, but the Marriot has a better breakfast buffet and a much better coffee shop, open early, and is a better value overall. I have always received excellent service. Previous reviews state that check-out can be long, but I've found this to be the case everywhere in Honduras.

“Marriott Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We stayed at Tegucigalpa Marriott from 11.22.2011 - 11.29.2011 and our experience was excellent. Rooms are big and comfortable. There are all necessary amenities including pool, gym and spa. We travel a lot and we found this hotel to have excellent location (next door to the presidential palace) and within a walking distance to several restaurants and a shopping center. Very comfortable beds, buffet breakfast was included in the room rate and the front desk was extremely helpful and so were the bell boys going out of their ways to make sure that we had a good time in the capital, be safe and see the most there is to see. You can hire a private driver for $12/hour and that includes the car! The driver serves as your guide and makes sure that you are safe. We were there for a wedding and organized a bachelor party on the town and we never felt threatened or unsafe in any way. Again the bell man was a great resource.
I highly reccomend the place.

“Ok, I guess but be aware of the rates as they try to cheat!”

Well first of all, dont go to Tegu if you dont have to. there is absolutely nothing to do and see and plus it is dangerous.
as for the hotel, nice room, great breakfast. what you would expect from a 5 star but the reception are is extremely annoying and frustrating after 6pm. there is a bar/restaurant at this area and they have very loud music and if you are really unlucky than it is the karaoke day!! imagine listening to the ugliest voices while trying to finish a work on your computer at 11pm! thats really the motivation I was seeking.

the most and most annoying is that the internet is extra. I advise you to get a cup of coffee at the coffee store inside the hotel where they give free vouchers for the internet.
my check in and check out was veeeery long! and be careful with the rates. they were going to charge me 110USD instead of 90 if I had not seen the fares on the internet!!!!

Room Tip: high floors away from the reception!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Excellent comfortable stay with hospitable staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

After staying in other Marriott Hotels in different cities, I had high expectations from this hotel, and it met the same. Also people generally speak spanish in latin america but here at Marriott almost all of the staff knew english as for people from Asia and Europe spanish is a constraint.
The hotel provides well organized complementary airport pick up and drop.
The room was large, city facing. Excellent service. I tried laundry and ordered food which was done in time though laundry is a bit expensive. The hotel has a restaurant, a sports bar with live music and a nice bakery. The breakfast was good with many options.I tried the lounge which was also fabulous. The hotel also offers free high speed LAN but no Wi-Fi. Also they have amazing SPA facilities which is worth trying. Overall Highly satisfied.

“POOR with a capital P....I don't understand the other reviews?”

I am an experienced travel especially when it comes to luxury hotels.........this was disgusting. My room was so dated and lacked comfort.....the room was sparse and uninviting and the furniture looked as though it had still been there from the 70's....the only modern amenity was the Plasma tv! We stayed in a suite. I also had constant smells of urine in certain areas of my room. The food was also inedible....we ordered breakfast which I was so ready for as I had just had a workout and i don't think any of it was real! The bread was refined dull pieces of flat white toast (actually untoasted as no brown), the eggs still had the snot as they were not cooked properly and the cappuccino tasted like very bad hot chocolate......please tell me what part of this is good??????? The only saving grace was the gym which was very well equipped....I wish I would had gone to the Intercontinental instead!
