Yes true, Honduras Maya Hotel was great stay if only we forget those bad experiences with staffs. Can’t say if all of them were the same but the least we interacted with were not helpful at all. If take the attention off it, the hotel was fabulous. It is set on a great location and is studded with all facilities. Definitely far more than expectations we hatched. Food was delicious with good varieties. Overall we had a good stay that could have been much better.

The rooms were quite large and the staff was super friendly, efficient and went out of their way to help troubleshoot any small problems that arose. The room had ceiling to floor windows that gave great views to the hillside, pool etc. Lots of light to brighten up the rooms and your stay. And the windows open --- perfect for letting in some fresh air. The bed was large and super comfy – the pillows as well. The room had a nice AC/heater combo which was nice to help warm up the chilly evenings, but cool down during the sun-drenched day. A nice touch.

Sufficient tv channels, great wi-fi connection in the individual rooms…. though I had a bit of difficulty connecting in the restaurant/pool area. Speaking of the pool….refreshing, large enough for some laps, excellent jacuzzi area and even a sauna! There was also a nice gym too. Good for relaxing after a long day of work.

The food was yum for lunch/dinner. I am officially addicted to the spinach crepes….and the tortilla soup was excellent. The breakfast buffet wasn’t the best – not a lot of variety, but enough to get you through the morning.

Talking about Honduras Maya is talking about the respected grand father of the hotels in Tegucigalpa. It is a traditional and well-known hotel located very close to one of the main roads (Blvd. Franciscos Morazan) and is used for a lot of Festivals, Symposiums, Congresses and Conferences. Hotel staff is very kind and call you by your name after 2 days. There is a nice swimming pool, travel agencies (but most of the time are closed), two unisex beauty parlors and artesanias shop. It is important to say there is a private taxis services, not from the hotel, but private taxis organized as a cooperative (COTATYH). Your breakfast will be included in a buffet but also you have a menu with specialties. The Internet Service is fair but you could not download gigabites of videos in real time, just to say.

We stayed at the Hotel Honduras Maya for two nights while I was taking the Foreign Service Exam at the US Embassy in Tegucigalpa. It was the perfect place to unwind and get into the right frame of mind to take the test. It was quiet and secure. The room was comfortable, with a terrific view. Friendly staff. There were lots of great channels on TV. The pool and the fitness center were great. And the restaurant was of excellent quality and was reasonably priced. Great fruit juices!

Tegus is not the safest city, and things are very quiet at night. So, you really want a hotel that you'll be comfortable hanging out in at night, both because the room is nice and because it's very safe. This place was perfect.

Hotel Honduras Maya was reasonably priced, and they even had a Peace Corps discount! I would definitely stay there again if I were in Tegucigalpa.
