“Nice - but up the biggest hill!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

If you arrive on a bus - its a hike up to the hotel! That is the main complaint I had - with a backpack its a big hill!
Anyhow the lower rooms are much cooler than the top ones - the showers were cold but honestly in this heat you wouldn't want anything more.
Its quite cheap and its only a little walk to the ruins, and town is just down the hill.

Could do with wireless - but overal average is about all I can say

“What a really great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

OK, so a friend suggested this place and he lives in Copan, but I thought anything priced at $14 a night had to be a dive. Well after a week paying $44 a night, I ended up taking a look at this place. What a really nice place, in a fantastic garden with an outside kitchen where there are some great meals prepared for about $3 or less. The hotel has simple rooms with good hot showers, very clean rooms, and a friendly staff. I had them wash my cloths and I paid $2.50 for about 10 lbs. The room was large, and bright. TV was small it had cable, but no English channels. It is half way up a steep hill, but it was no problem and a taxi runs about 50 cents. There are nicer places to stay if you want to spend $100, but if you are looking for a great place to stay at a great price, you really can't beat this at all. My next trip I will be staying here again.

“Love Those Hammocks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2009

Located just a few blocks from the town center this hotel should fit the needs of all but the most spoiled traveler. No room service or candlelit dining room, but a spotless habitation with ample hot water can be had for a mere pittance. The grounds and rooms are constantly kept up by the friendly and helpful staff. A tiny outdoor patio kitchen serves quality meals at very reasonable prices which can be taken upstairs to the hammock lounge. The staff will gladly keep your beer cold in their 'fridge, so after a hectic day of touring the ruins and surrounding countryside you can pull up a hammock and watch the sunset with a cold Moza right from your hotel. Sodas, bottled water and other drinks are available on site and right out the entrance are 2 tiendas within one block for other sundry items. An international pay phone is also conveniently located at the front desk. As far as the domesticated animal sounds at all hours? Yep, that's part of travel in Central America. Might I suggest a visit to the local souvenir shop for an authentic Maya slingshot?

“Shoot the rooster!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2008

The room was nice and spacious. The shower wasn't particularly good, a little cold. Also the hotel is up a really steep hill, which is a bit of an effort to climb but it means the hotel is out of the main town centre so a little quieter.
There is a nice outdoor seating area to relax in and they do do breakfasts pretty cheaply but don't order one if you're going to be in a rush to get somewhere as they were pretty slow.
The main problem we had with the hotel was the annoying rooster, it was really loud and kept us awake at night/ in the mornings.

  • Liked — The areas to sit outside and relax
  • Disliked — The rooster!
