Utila is a tiny island with an even tinier center. Colibri Hill hotel is located a short, but good distance from the center that can get pretty rowdy at night since bars and clubs are known to stay open til 4 am.

Colibri is probably one of my top choices for families, with a pool, spacious rooms and best of all - the view is amazing!!!!

Colibri Hill Resort is a beautiful, quiet location just off the main street and a short walk to all of the main dive centers, restaurants, and bars. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and comfortable. I enjoyed the hotel balconies - with pleasant sea breezes, while either lying in the hammocks or sitting on the chairs, and gazing over the view of the bay. There is a quiet pool, and a tiki bar for sitting and chatting with other hotel guests. There is no restaurant, but it is close to many restaurants. The hotel manager and the staff were excellent. They also helped us to arrange day-trips, obtain taxi service to/from the airport, and to get medical assistance. If you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and friendly place to stay ... look no further!

Rooms were nice and clean and the property is well-maintained. We saw many iguanas scampering about when we arrived. The included breakfast at the restaurant down the street was delicious. We loved that it was off of the main street and had a quiet and relaxing vibe at night. We enjoyed hanging out in the hammocks and watching the stars! The manager, Luiza, was also very helpful in putting us in touch with a local travel agent who helped us coordinate the end of our Honduras trip.

One tip: we arrived at noon and were melting in the hot mid-day heat; when asked if we wanted "A/C" we gave a definitive "YES!" By evening, however, the island cooled down substantially, and we didn't really need to use it. if you'd rather save the $10/day, you probably wouldn't miss it.

Colibri Hills was wonderful! Great location - a short walk east of town, set on a tranquil hill surrounded by beautiful tropical foliage! The pool is fantastic to lounge around at and its a good escape from the sand fleas on the beach! Staff is friendly and helpful! Rooms are a good size and very comfortable!
