We recently stayed at Hobbies for 2 weeks. Upon arrival, Sue showed us our room and made us feel right at home. Our apartment was just perfect size for us the time we were there. John had asked if we needed anything from town and he gladly picked up whatever we needed. They made sure we would enjoy our stay and even supplied us with internet and a phone for use while we stayed. Everything is there and if you need anything, Sue is happy to help.
The first night they made us and the other guests dinner. Man what a feast. Sue brought down a big, I mean big bowl of salsa and we ate and ate. Then they prepared stir fry. Awesome first day and introduction.
Within a few days we were right at home and blending fine. John even took us to his wholesale supplier of seafood for a fresh supply of Shrimp, Lobster, Snapper and some conch. If you can get your hands on some conch, ask John to make his famous conch fritters. They are remarkable! The best anywhere! This is a make yourself at home kind of place and that is what makes it special.
Visiting the reef was one of the highlights. Went out on most days twice and saw something new every time. We spent most mornings having coffee on the dock and enjoying the first rays of sun and with unlimited access to the kayak that made another highlight to go on our own around the reef and thru the neighbouring bay observing the wildlife. Could go on and on about the services provided; you need to experience the island life yourself. Careful of what other places seem to offer; however can’t come thru, Hobbies offers and comes thru for everything.
This is NOT a 5-star resort, so don't expect it to be one. But for great prices, excellent location, peace and quiet, and safe, secure accomodations, we don't think it can be beat. We would return.
