“Fabulous week of Diving with the Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We enjoyed a fabulous week of diving at Reef House. Our goal was to dive, relax, and spend time together. Mission accomplished! This is was our second trip to Roatan and we were looking for a dive resort away from the main stream. Reef House was perfect! Mike picked us up at the airport on arrival. We were welcomed with a delicious lunch at the resort and then off for our first dive of the trip. In all, we had 20+ dives over the week - three boat dives a day plus shore diving for the entergetic! Davit and Choco were excellent dive master and boatman. Each of the dive sites were fantastic. Davit is great at communicating the dive site, spotting sea creatures, and keeping an eye on divers while allowing everyone to have their own great experience. In all, there were only 8 of at at the resort all week. We all enjoyed diving and eating together, sharing stories of diving and traveling. The food was good; always larger portions than we could consume. We were happy with the self-serve bar. Rooms were simple, but more than adequate. Setting is lovely. We played cards and read books by the water every day. The "boys" (ages 18 & 21) had fun at night in the shore "pool" playing with octopi and other sea life. We hope to return! It was a very enjoyable week. Thanks Mike and the Team, and a shout out to our fellow travelors!

“DIVE, DIVE, DIVE”

My husband and I wanted to go on a diving trip and this was the perfect place to do it! We spent 5 days diving three times per day with Davit. He is a local Honduran and his eyes are unbelievable. Every single dive he was finding fantastic macro species (baby seahorses, cleaner shrimp, pipefish, etc). The dive group were a little big, but it didn't bother us too much. We really enjoyed the 'family-style' eating and the food was terrific. We even had a fantastic night playing cards with everyone at the hotel. We would definitely go back!

Other notes: there is nothing else to do but eat, sleep, and dive. Honduras is known for their macro diving...don't expect to see many big species (however we did come across an octopus swimming in broad day light).

“Great diving but food caters to american tastes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Stayed here in January 2011 and had a great few days diving. David the divemaster was fantastic and knowledgeable and he handled the at times slightly large dive groups with ease. Rooms were nothing special but clean and comfortable with good showers - this is no 5* resort so don't go expecting that. Only a couple of slight niggles:

1) It would have been nice to have the option of a 4th dive in the day. The boat goes out for 2 dives in the morning, you come back for lunch and then do a single dive in the afternoon. It's definitely possible to get a fourth dive in - late afternoon or dusk/evening on the second outing and it would have added a lot to the diving. as you're so far away from the other operators and the reef house's schedule is not flexible you have no options here

2) The food, while plentiful, was poor by UK standards. we'd had a week of eating fantastic, fresh local food on the mainland so defrosted, fried american-style food was disappointing for us, but i can quite understand that those more used to it might find it just the job

Overall thought, a great place to stay. Rental kit in good order, professional staff and far from the crowds both over and under water

“Great diving resort - our 3rd visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

This was our 3rd time staying at the Reef House, and it has gotten better each time. It is a great place to stay, and offer fantastic diving!!

This year it was time to return to one of our favorite diving resort, and were not diappointed in the accomodations, food, diving, staff, everything.

Mike, the owner and operator of the Reef House, is a super host. As before, he extended himself to make our stay here super, not just for us, but all of the guests who were there for the week. He bends over backword to make sure all of his guests get the best treatment.

We were given the 2 rooms in the separate building -S1 and S2. So we had our own porch to relax when we weren't diving, down eating, spending the time on the deck/bar area. Mike has made more improvements to both of these rooms. The windows have been upgraded, and now with blinds for more privacy. It was perfect staying in these rooms.

For the food, I wish we could import the cooks. Every meal was a treat. I told Mike they should make a book of their receipes to sell. I hope they do!!

The diving was wonderful as it was before. We were extremely happy that Davidt and Choco were still there, providing super service and superb diving as they had done on our previous trips.
It was also great to see Leonardo again, to be there to congratulate him on his new son. Hope he named him after Mike! Leonardo is another great addition to the Reef House Resort.

We cannot recommend the Reef House enough. It was a diamond in the rough that we found on our first trip to Roatan. This diamond is really shinning. Kudos to Mike and all his staff!!

“Sen-sational. If you want to dive, come here...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

We were relatively new to the diving game, but after a week at Reef House, we felt like veterans. The atmosphere is spectacular. It is quiet and low key. A perfect place to relax, and just enjoy the ocean, and peace and quiet. If you want to get away and just dive, then this is your place. If you want to be able to get out and about and see the sights, this is not your place. It is isolated, which for us was perfect. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us off, which is awesome. In terms of diving. The Dive Master, Davit, and his sidekick, Choco, are legends. They're entertaining, but most of all, Davit's local knowledge is unbelievable, and he'll find all the cool wildlife and coral etc. His ability to spot cool stuff was incredible. 2 dives in the morning, and one in the afternoon was perfect. We also snorkeled right off the front of Reef House, which was also spectacular. There is wildlife everywhere. We rented our scuba equipment, which was in good condition and reliable. The resort itself is simple (in a good way), clean and refreshing. We stayed in one of the Studio rooms which was great. Very clean, comfortable and with air conditioning. The 3 meals are day were tasty and filling. You will not go hungry here, guaranteed. Mike, the owner, is involved in every part of the operation, and was super friendly and helpful. Be sure to walk down the "road" to catch the dog riding monkey and the Shetland pony. I would go back here in a heart beat.
