“Brian and Rebecca will take good care of you......"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2010

Marble Hill Farms is a great place to stay. The prices for a room with a/c are very reasonable and if you like the east end (off the beaten track), it is in the perfect location. The manager Brian and his staff, especially the fabulous bartender Rebecca are there to take care of your every need. Rebecca is a very beautiful islander, who is a free spirit and loves to party. If she asks if you want to go out to a club with her an her friends you better anticiptate a hangover the next day. I have stayed there twice an both times were excellent. The new restaurantt, The Crows Nest has excellent food at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend. If you stay tell Brian an Rebecca, Mike says hi.

“Perfect diving escape in beautiful surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2010

A friend and I spent a week in Marble Hill Farm completing our advanced diving course with Tropical Island Divers.
We were looking for a relaxing spot away from the over exploited west end of roatan and this is what we found.
We spent the week in one of the gorgeous "casitas". Those are charming, spacious, confortable, clean and overlooking the sea. You can hear the waves breaking on the reef while you are in your bed.
We ate at the onsite restaurant most of the time. They serve great food and its quite cheap. Its a nice spot to get a drink an the wood deck and socialize as well. Restaurant is closed on the week ends but they took us by boat (10min ride along the gorgeous coast) to a local seafood restaurant on the water and otherwise they cooked for us.
We were extremly happy with the diving as well. The dive center is located one minute walking distance from the casitas. We managed to dive 10 times in a week, everytime on a different local spot. A maximum of 6 poeple in the water with 2 professionals.
You can also get a kayak whenever you feel like it to go for a ride in the bay. If you like snorkelling or free diving, there are plenty of local spots as well with nice coral and marine life.
I hardly recommand this place if you are looking for an escape, diving oriented or not, in a laidback atmosphere.

“expected so much more”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2010

We had planned to stay here for three nights while travelling around the Bay Islands for a month, but ended up cutting our visit to marble hill short and going back to the south coast. For what you pay, it was not up to scratch (things were broken, advertised hot water but none working, rooms were shared and dirty, no daily cleaning of rooms, advertised internet was not working as the bill wasn't paid) - there are much better places to stay on eastern roatan which have much better hospitality.

It proved to be a hassle just to convince them to pick us up, and when we got there the rooms weren't very clean, and we felt like our being there was a hassle to them. They do not dive on weekends, and the kitchen was closed on the sunday and they were suggesting that we go to a restaurant to eat (not the one on site) - even though we had paid the all inclusive package. When we said no, they offered to cook us something. Breakfast was just toast and jam and a cup of tea, but other meals were taken in the restaurant which had great food and service - so if you're in the area I recommend you at least visit the crow's nest as it's very nice.

While diving, we had to struggle to get back on the boat by ourselves while they watched and didn't assist (esp with one of the group with a sprained wrist), and they seemed reluctant to take us the next day - hoping that we had changed our mind as it was a sunday. So in the end, we cut our losses and left early.

However, I will say that the people were nice, and it appears to not be their fault - they did try and were helpful, and it seems like they don't get the support from the owners. If it was less then it would be fine, or at least adjust the website to avoid disappointment as it's not what you state (the website says 7 day diving packages but they're actually only 5 days).

OVerall, the whole place promised a lot, and could be so much more.

“The view, the people and the surroundings were something from a dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

This was our first time to Isla Roatan and it exceeded every expectation that our mind ever thought of. We took a cab ride out to Marble Farms and were met by Reese and Brian, who are some of the nicest people we have ever met. You will be amazed by the views! It looks like something from a postcard. The food was magnificent, the company was superb and the dock we walked out on into the little bay area was so peaceful. You could only hear the sound of birds, the quiet soothing ripple of small waves and a gentle breeze that cooled you from the tropical sun. Thank you so much to Jim, Brian, Reese all the staff that made this second honeymoon for my wife and I so enjoyable. We will back!

“dive and relax - away from the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

I had done quite a bit of searching for lodging and diving options before my and my fiance's trip to roatan, and I thank the heaven I came across Marble Hill Farms. Diving without another boat in sight, solitude on beautiful and lush grounds, awesome food, and great staff.

dive instructors were fantastic and took us both near and far for the pristine dive spots. high quality, new equipment and boats. the site occupies a hill overlooking a beautiful bay and the natural grounds and lodging (lush and natural, not like a fake landscape mega-resort) run all the way down to their beach and private dock. we did plenty of lounging in the hammocks on the dock. lodging was super spacious - 2 bedroom casita including large living room and small kitchen - all open air but protected from the rain and wind and 100% screened in from any bugs outside. A/C and ceiling fans for when you need them. we used the A/C only once even though we were there during the hot season. their gardens including their many fruit trees from which they make their jams are pristine and open to your exploration. orchids flowing off the tree trunks.

food was stellar. nice bar with fantastic mojitos. they smoke their own meat and chicken and cook everthing from scratch - you can tell the diffeerent when you have their food. i work in restaurants in nyc and i was impressed by the this spot. standard bar/grille food but with lots of local and fresh ingredients. very high quality ingredients and an attention to detail make that difference.

they're close enough to lots of other beaches with other casual resorts and beachfront bars - they even offered to take us there by boat. so you're not stuck at Marble Hill at all if you want to get out and see the surrounding area.

if you're looking to stay far away from the touristy/cruise-shipy west end of roatan then head to marble hill farms. these guys know what they're doing. they could have been a bit quicker in responding to initial reservation inquiries but i think they had had some medical emergency with a staff member so i think that's why. they have free wifi at the main house and they were often in the office when we were there, so i'm guessing that under normal circumstances they respond adequately to inquiries.

dive+lodging+food (3 meals a day)+ airport xfer package was extremely well priced. do the math and compare meal prices, dive rates, transport, etc on the island and you'll find these guys to be th best deal around.

i was there w/ my fiance, but when there i was thinking it would be a good spot for a group trip, particularly for divers. they can comfortably fit probably 12-15 in their 3 casitas and they have plenty of sites like the massive 2nd story deck on top of their dock that would be perfect for a party or a gathering. the main house (office, kitchen, etc) also have a big event space and deck that could work for weddings. anyway, they're well set up for events, although the place is pretty quiet and the grounds are really just used by the restaurant (people living and staying nearby), divers/watersports people and guest staying in their casitas from time to time. a very casual and quiet place. loved it.
