We stayed 2 nights and had a little trouble on arrival - they had not reserved our room even though we had booked and received confirmation by email. We had to log on to their computer to show them the email!
Checking out also had it's hiccups because we needed to leave at 6am. We had arranged prior to pay by credit card. But of course there was no power at 6am (therefore no credit card machine) and we didn't have enough cash! We knew about the power situation and probably should have thought of all this the night before. However the front desk also knew we were leaving at 6am and paying with card, so it would have been nice if they had thought of it too. The problem was sorted by waking the boss and turning the generator on briefly just while we paid. (The generator going that early might have woken a few other guests).
The front desk service seemed a little ditzy (maybe he was new?) and the restaurant service was fine, though lacked professionalism. The meals were good.
Our room was very good - spacious, lovely and clean.
The pool was not particularly clean (murky/not clear water).
The gardens and grounds are beautiful and make you feel very relaxed.
The location is superb - just a short walk to Tikal park.
Despite the average service and a couple of small problems, the location, grounds and rooms more than made up for this and overall I will remember it as a lovely experience. I wish we could have stayed longer.
