Lovely accommodation, not right in the middle of town but its only a short tuc tuc ride away.

Would highly recommend the Posada.

I have been to Santiago four times since 2008, and I am certain that for tourists, the Posada is the best place in town. The rooms are beautiful, the jacuzzi/pool/dock gives you the best lakeside viewing, and the food is delicious. The prices are so reasonable for what great amenities you receive. For breakfast, I highly recommend the blue corn pancakes, and for dinner, the eggplant is a great vegetarian option (though the entire menu is delicious!) Even if you don't stay overnight at the Posada, it is definitely worth going to for a meal during your day trip to Santiago.

Wonderful views across the lake. Loved the stone cabins with real fires. The food is fabulous and the cocktails great. Our favourite was the blackened chicken washed down with dragonfruit margaritas. Enjoyed the craft market and a boat across the lake, but would come back again mainly to stay here. Not to be missed!

What can I say? The owners are... shall we say eccentric? David is a California ex-pat who loves having folks to talk with. He has created an awesome place to stay which happens to include (IMHO) the best restaurant in Santiago. The hotel is beautiful and David's political leanings are obvious in the decisions that he has made regarding the place. He is deeply involved in supporting efforts to support the indigenous population of Santiago. He begins with his staff which is excellent and he has their backs in many ways. The "casitas" are comfortable with extra beds and a stocked fireplace. The lakefront is a great place to hang out. I can't wait to go back.
