Once again I was convinced that Julio has it going on.
I had read Guatemala was unsafe so before booking three weeks of adventure in Guatemala, I question Julio and I he convinced me all was good.
I decided to go anyways as I trust Julio and am i ever glad I did. Julio met us at the Guatemala City airport and brought us to Pana right away so we could avoid spending time in the city. Our room was where I requested on the top floor with and awesome view... one of the best in Atitlan. The room was awesome and clean with locking windows that have glass and screens. I had hot water that was very hot when after long hikes was welcome. I often left my laptop, camera and other personal things in my room without issue. Staff at the desk were always helpful and had a great attitude. Julio arranged a 4 day trip to Tikal and back which went off without issue...
Julio also arranged a guided hike up Volcano Atitlan, which was hard but hike of a lifetime.

Julio and staff will make you feel like you are at home here...awesomeness.
One last comment about the roosters..this is third world and roosters are everywhere....to be expected. Cock a doodle do

Positives:
- just a few steps from the Atitlan lake
- clean, spacious rooms
- nice interior, especially the welcoming area and the balconies
- nice staff, speaking English and putting up with my crappy Spanish
- good price
and best of all:
- Paco - the beautiful green parrot that talks!

I've stayed at the Posada de los Volcanes three times and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. I had stayed at four other hotels in Pana and then read about the Posada on Tripadvisor and decided to try it. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are clean. The prices very competitive. They will also book your local tours and your return transportation to Guatemala City.

This hotel has very good reviews for very good reasons. It is conveniently located just a short walk from the lake and from good restaurants on Calle Santander. The rooms are rather small but are clean, comfortable and very fairly priced. The staff is always couteous and helpful, whether to give advice and information, or arranging tours to Chichicastenango, Antigua, etc. If desired, they will meet you at the airport in Guatemala City and bring you direct to the hotel. Highly recommended.
