Porta Hotel Del lago has the best location on the lake, every room has a view that will take your breath away. All the bathrooms are marble, its a quality hotel! Service was superior. The Rotary Club meets there which is usally a sign that its the best hotel in town. Its just a block from the best shopping in town, also right on the water. We didn't have to go too far to go down to the open bar to see the gorgeous sunset over looking the volcanic mountains surrounding the lake. Best pina coladas in Guatemala.I'm going to fly all of our family in for Christmas next year because its amazing location, & very reasonable price for the quality.

This hotel overlooks Lake Atitlan. We had a nice view from our balcony. The busy center of town is a short walk away so the hotel is quiet at night. The room was comfy, no A/C but there was a good fan. Breakfast was in a pretty room looking onto the lake. You could get eggs cooked to order. There were two computers available for free, a nice feature. We did not use the pool.

This hotel was a great find and well needed. After backpacking around Guatemala and roughing it in hostels after hostel for a whiel, it felt great to actually relax in a clean, cozy, and comfortable all inclusive hotel. This hotel is pretty big and during our stay, there had to be only 20 guests in the entire hotel. It was great! This hotel overlooks Lake Atitlan, which has several volcanoes surrounding it. The view is breathtaking. There is also a heated natural spring jacuzzi near the pool. It felt nice to relax in during the day.The location of the hotel is a good15 minute walk in to town where all the shops, bars, and restaurants are located. Panajachel is where all the gringos go to get great deals on textiles, jewelry, other great souvenirs. If going out at night, I would recommend walking with a few people or taking a tuc-tuc because the road leading to and from the hotel is extremely dark. I went out solo one night and walking back to the hotel alone kind of spooked me out.

THE FOOD AND BAR:
The food here was great! I had fish and fresh avocado everyday. There were also a lot of fresh fruits to choose from. At the bar, it felt refreshing to chug down frosty Gallo Cervezas from that tap in chilled mugs. aaaahhhh!

THE BEACH:
It is not much and a little dirty. I would not recommend swimming in the lake either, but as I said earlier, the view of the lake from the hotel rooms are awesome!

I stayed one night at the hotel for a inspection of it, so the staff treat us like kings, hehehe. The lobby is a bit dark, the sitting area next to the lobby is very nice, also there is a very nice sitting area infront of the restaurant. The restaurant is very good, the staff is very nice. Almost everypart at the hotel have a view of the lake, the restaurant is no exeption. The sports area is a very large deck above the restaurant, very spacious, very clean. The rooms were very spacious, with the best view, but the room needs an update, and A/C. The bathroom was very clean, white and with a excellent shower.

The location is an excellent lake view, and is not that far from the center of Panajachel, that is a small town, make sure you walk on the sidewalk next to the lake. The lake and the town are simply beautiful!!!
