This place probably had its heyday a few decades back. Today, it is dark, a bit run-down, and like a haunted mansion at night.
The workers were very attentive and had good service, but the facilities... there are water and coffee pitchers out in the halls, so that was nice. There are 3 types of rooms (shower & TV, shower & no TV, no shower & no TV), and I had the middle choice. The TV is small and old, so wouldn't see a reason to pay extra. The communal shower is okay looking, but I preferred to have a private bathroom. The internet works well, but you have to use it in the communal area. They have a restaurant, but I never saw it open.
The toilet was fine, but the shower could only provide "hot" water if it trickled on you (a full force shower came out cold). The two beds were uncomfortable (one stiff like a board and the other squeaky and lumpy) and had a slight smell.
Almost all the visitors were Latin American, so I think that this must be the budget choice for anyone who needs to be in the center of town. It has a perfect location to everything in Zona 1, so that's nice. A yellow taxi to the airport is about Q40 ($5).
I would recommend it as an inexpensive choice for those staying in Zona 1 (el centro), and those who want a step up from a hostel.
