“Small, comfortable and close to wonderful shopping in the Zona Rosa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

The Princess is one of my very favorite hotels in the Americas, and I've tried many of them! The rooms are not huge but they are incredibly comfortable. Beds, bedclothes, pillows...all are selected for guest comfort. The restaurant is delightful but the breakfast buffet is simply splendid, a great way to begin a business or touring day. The Princess is across Avenida Reforma from the Zona Rosa, so rooms here are less expensive than just across the street but just as comfortable and just as secure. A short walk takes you to shopping, dining, and other tourist attractions. If you go downtown it's best to take a taxi. It's a long, heavily trafficked walk and as another reviewer indicated, some of the areas between the hotel and downtown can be unsavory. And even though Guatemala City is presently home for me, I must advise do not go walking about the streets at night. Use a taxi if you're out. The Princess staff invariably have been friendly and courteous to me and my guests. The airport shuttle is safe and convenient. Can you tell I really, really like the Princess?

Room Tip: Higher levels are quieter.

“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

We stayed at Hotel Princess our last night in Guatemala. This is a lovely hotel with a very friendly staff. Our room cost was $60 and included breakfast and free airport shuttle. We had to leave too early to have breakfast (left at 5am, breakfast starts at 6am), but they did have a small continental breakfast available for those who had to leave early. A comprable room in the US would have cost at least $150/night. We did not have an opportunity to use the pool or exercise room, but it looked like they had very high quality equipment and the pool was small but very clean. The hotel shuttle bus was out of service, but the hotel had taxis waiting for us at their expense. We would definitely stay here again.

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

During my visit I stayed at this hotel for 3 days. It is very near to the airport and there are some shops and restaurants near. But if you want to go to the central part of Guatemala city it is a 25 min walk through areas no good in the night time. During day time there is no problems. Breakfast and internet in the hotel is very expensive, so use that another place. The rooms and the beds are big. The bathroom is fine and very clean. All in all good value for your money.

“Not Impressed Any Longer With This Hotel or Hotels.com”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

I stayed at this hotel five years ago and then again just recently. I booked the trip through hotels.com which I have recently been told is also Orbitz. I booked the hotel at a so called "special rate" of $59.00 USD but when I arrived was charged $79.00 which included taxes which were never disclosed. Then I was told that I had purchased a "standard room" which I was told by the hotel was a queen bed which was fine with me. When I went to the room I discovered it was a double bed. I went back to reservations and complained that it was not a queen bed as I was informed. I was then told I would be required to pay another $20.00 USD for a king bed. I took out my reservation and showed the receptionist that the reservation stated that a king bed was requested "if available." Obviously, the bed was available since I paid extra for it and Princess refused to honor the "request." I give neither this hotel or hotels.com any credit for this business tactic. To me it is nothing but a deceptive "bait and switch." For the other $20.00 forget this hotel and stay at the Hotel Futura Tikal. It is a much nicer property for a similiar price and they do not add on for a king bed nor for high speed internet access, Further, you can take the elevator by reception downstairs to the mall where you can get whatever you might need. Makes me wonder why the hotel thinks it is worth this kind of a review for $20.00?

Room Tip: I would not book here Hotel Futura Tikal Is A Better Value In My Opnion

“Extremely Helpful, Clean and Luxerious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

I paid for the hotel on a discount website. When I arrived, I explained that I had paid for a king bed although that was not in their system. They immediately accommodated me. In fact, they went out of their way to ensure that my stay would be well worth it. Next time I am in Guatemala City, I will simply book directly to the hotel! Excellent value, good location!
