I write this review from the hotel itself, this being my third stay.
Pros:
- Free, direct, comfortable shuttle from the airport
- Heavenly bed
- Good AC/heating with modern controls, no noise, and pretty comfortable rooms with large modern TVs
- Impressive pool and gym
- Location
Cons:
- Loves to nickel-and-dime. Forgot your toothbrush? They'll send one up, but remember to sign the receipt (and its carbon copy) and pay maybe $7 for a very cheap Chinese toothbrush. Same with the Internet. One free bottle of "Salvavidas" water (not even spring water) with the rest charged at $2.75.
- One of my rooms didn't have blackout curtains; this one only has one so half the window is not covered
- Requested the concierge two simple tasks separately; for the first, she promised to call back but never did. For the second, I had to call back and no one had heard of the request
- Requested a reservation change, was assured it was done and it hadn't been
- Had a meal at the bar (bad), a few breakfasts (average) and a plate of room service yoghurt, fruit and mint. 15 mins after ordering the latter, I get a phonecall giving me a choice of yoghurts. 20 mins after that I get a fruit plate with no yoghurt or mint. (?)
Two of my colleagues checked in (on different days) as SPG platinums; one got a v nice upgrade, whereas the other one didn't. The 50% upgrade chance (on a very low sample!) is good.
It gets 4 stars because of the price, but this hotel needs some service improvements to be on par with the top-class business hotels it deserves to be grouped with.
