We returned to the Hampton Inn in Americus for another visit this month. After reading a few recent reviews on TripAdvisor, I wondered if I should consider a different hotel, but we're glad that we returned to the Hampton Inn. It's still clean and attractive, and the staff is still so cheerful and friendly.
I did book a cheaper room this time -- queen instead of king -- so it was smaller but perfectly good for a one night stay. The AARP rate made it very affordable. The TVs have been upgraded to large flat panel TVs which was nice. The rooms are very clean -- I've recently become more conscious of thoroughly inspecting hotel rooms to the point of inspecting the mattress and drawers -- the room was spotless. All of the amenities that I found two years ago are still provided.
We travelled to the area to attend former President Jimmy Carter's Bible class on Sunday morning, and it was obvious that many other Saturday night guests were doing the same. The breakfast area was busy on Sunday morning, but the staff kept the breakfast well supplied. The waffles were great, and all the other selections were good with the exception of the sausage patties.
We still recommend the Hampton Inn in Americus for a good night's sleep in a clean, attractive room.
By the way, the old Holiday Inn Express next door has become a Baymont Inn. It still looks like a tired, old, exterior corridor motel. The Hampton Inn is definitely worth a few more dollars. Look for discounts or travel coupons in the brochures at the state welcome centers. Also, watch out for old motels with lots of reviews by single reviewers. They may cause a rundown hotel to get a better rating than they deserve. (I learned that lesson in Pine Mountain.)
