Recently, while travelling to southern Belize, a colleague and I stayed at Tranquility Lodge. We really didn’t have any expectations as to what Tranquility might be like, but in all of 10 seconds we realized that, not only did we find the lodge to be beautiful, but the proprietors to be even more so. Sheila and Rusty Nale are the ultimate hosts. They have run several different hotels in their 19 plus years in Belize, and Tranquility Lodge is their pièce de résistance.

We were welcomed as family more than travelers. Our room was a slice of heaven in a beautiful jungle setting, and the breakfast each morning was even better than the one before. Laundry was wonderfully reasonable, the swimming hole is something out of a movie, and the owners are some of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. If you are travelling through Toledo District in Belize, there is only one choice as far as accommodations.

Tranquility Lodge will amaze you, treat you and you will fall in love with the grounds as soon as you lay eyes on them. I can’t say enough great things about Sheila, Rusty, their staff and what they have accomplished by building such a tranquil and comforting lodge. Do yourself a favor and stay at Tranquility Lodge. It’s the treat of treats.

We stayed with at Tranquility lodge for an 8 day trip. The advice and planning that Rusty and Sheila provided was second to none. We stayed in a casita, and enjoyed the peaceful nature of the surroundings.

The food and attention to detail was extremely delightful. We can not recommend staying at Tranquility Lodge enough.

We spent 5 nights at TL in one of the beautiful new casitas. Sheila and Rusty could not have been more warm or accommodating to our diet requests, adventure desires, or questions about Toledo and Belize. The birding on site is excellent (46 species for us; varied habitats; TL bird list online is good), a new trail along Jacinta Creek opens up opportunities for hiking and birding, and the large upstairs screened dining room is a delightful place to spend a rainy afternoon or evening.

Tranquility lodge is wonderful. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms very nice. Weather you want to stay in a more hotel feeling room or a more rustic cabana, they have got you covered. Also, the food they cook is extraordinary, not your average lodge breakfast.
