“twice as nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed at Stefano and Nicolettas in October/november. It was our second stay with them and it was more of the same, perfection on the beach! We came with freinds the first time and rented the whole place ( perfect!), but came alone this trip for our anniversary. As long as you can handle the fairly steep stairs/ladder to the loft we recommend the upper apartment for a stay of any length of time. Its a little larger and the nice mayans with their beautiful wares don't bother you as much when you sit on the upper decks.
We are planning on returning this spring and hope he has the room!

I would recommend anyone to stay at the Colibri House :) Mr. Stefano and Ms. Nicollette are wonderful people to deal with and they will ensure that you are happy throughout your stay. The house is on the Beach and next to the Placencia Sidewalk which means its in an ideal location, not too far from anything! there is a spectacular view of the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening. whats not to love!

“Italian artistry and Belizean beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

One of the most charming places by the see I’ve ever seen. Colibri House combines Italian artistry and sense for design with all the natural beauty of Belize. The astonishing wooden two store building is surrounded by an elegant, small garden (with barbeque, cats and even iguanas) and is located direct on the beach!!! The view from the balcony is phenomenal! One can easily spent a whole day (week, month) lying in the hammock, enjoying the breeze and the peaceful world around.
Inside the house is as nice as outside. My family rented both units (up and downstairs) and we were extremely pleased with what we found there: comfortable beds, beautifully arranged living area, kitchenettes (equipped with all what is necessary for a pleasant and carefree holiday) and even small but highly interesting libraries.
I cannot wait to go back there!

“Great place to stay”

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the comfortable studio downstairs. It was an easy walk to food, shopping and bars. The owners were very attentive and made sure we weren't in need of anything. A pleasure to stay and I would recomend it to friends and family.

“Private Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We stayed in Colibri House for 5 nights after spending a week at sea on a catamaran. We wanted to sample the flavor of the village, and to have a nice quiet, private place just to ourselves. Colibri House was perfect. We stayed in the studio downstairs. Windows on everyside to catch sea breezes. Nice open layout inside felt so spacious. Owners super helpful - Stefano and Nicoletta. Stefano gave us map to town on first day and pointed out some great restaurants to sample, and where the supermarket was. All walking distance. Nothing quite like sippin a Belikin in the hammock on the front porch, swaying to the sea breeze and listening to the swish of palm fronds and the soft splash of the ocean for your music. This is close enough to town to walk everywhere - but far enough away that you do not have to listen to bar parties. Wonderful retreat. Very clean and nice. Highly recommend. We will be staying here on our next trip. We were here in July 2010. They did not have airconditioning - but did provide two large fans. It was sufficient for us, but IF you must sleep in frigid temps - then you might want to check with owners first to see if they installed air yet. Electricity is very expensive in Belize. Also - if you can arrange to stay during lobster season - eat it out every opportunity. So fresh and wonderful, and VERY reasonably priced. Go and enjoy!

Room Tip: The bottom apartment is a studio. Spacious. Perfect for a couple, but roomy enough to add people...
