I paid a deposit and had a reservation for 7 nights. One week before my trip I called to check that everything was in order, but nobody answers the phone. Somebody at a tourist office in Placencia informed me that they are closed. It would have been nice if they had bothered to inform me or to send back my deposit. I'm not going to Placencia. We'll go someplace else now. The management of this place sucks.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt since we were there during the lowest of the low season, I think there were a half dozen guests there. So, I suppose it would be more economical to have a limited food menu and drink selection. Prepare to schedule your day around the local bus schedule or pay $40 round-trip to Placencia village.

On the bright side: the beach is beautiful, the rooms are pretty nice with great views, and the pool is great. They booked us a great snorkeling trip guided by a very knowledgeable that identified every fish, coral type, sea cucumber, etc. The food was average.

I would give it another shot when they are at full strength in the peak-season.

The staff were very cheerful, helpful and friendly which made up for their seeming "newness" to the hospitality industry. The hotel is split in two by the road from Placencia, which some day will be paved, in the meantime it is one of the roughest "main" roads I've ever been on. Currently only the ocean side buildings are used for accommodation, while the lagoon side is where the main lobby, restaurant and bar are located. The buildings are not handicap friendly. Wifi coverage was spotty, but free.
During the rainy season the ocean is rather muddy so you will want to stick with the large shallow pool with swim up bar. The beach is nicely groomed.
The rooms / suites are clean and large with kitchens nicely decorated and well equipped. The beds are quite firm.
If you want to explore the area they will gladly arrange tours for you which are excellent. The food in the restaurant was very good but there was not much of a wine selection.
The only real downside is the need to take a taxi everywhere and its not very handy to Placencia proper.

Having returned to Belize in Placencia, The resort has evolved so much since its opening. The resort is stunning, rising sun over the ocean and the sunset over the lagoon and maya mountains are a delight. The service is excellent and staff ever so friendly and efficient. The food really reflect the region. The appartment suites, are very spacious and well fitted, we stayed on the second floor , and benefitted of a large balcony. The pool is great, and the availability of kayaks on site added to our activities. we were able to add various site visits during our stay, monkey river and maya ruins.
We had a great time and will return again very soon
