Staff friendly and helpful. Ride the bikes into town. We stayed in 2 bedroom unit and had plenty of room. Showers were awesome. Food was delicious and not overpriced! Took the Monkey River cruise with Percy through the hotel. Great trip. Don't forget the mosquito repellent! Hotel has air conditioning.

I recently experienced my first visit to Chabil Mar. I was totally captivated by the beauty i encountered upon my arrival.A setting of villas beautiful villas surrounded by lush gardens, pool, & dining area all nestled near a pier and beach overlooking the Caribbean Sea, simply spectacular.i was also impressed by the genuine , friendly and helpful staff. It was evident from the moment i arrived that they were there to service needs and enhance your visit, from bringing breakfast to your villa to helping plan activities for the day. My first excursion in Placencia was The Monkey River tour. What pleasure to tour the river and experience nature in its true setting, from the vegetation to the wildlife. And i would like to mention have informative and pleasurable our guide Percy was. I highly recommend him to anyone visiting the Chabil Mar.
Before i forget , i must tell you how much i enjoyed dining at Chabil Mar. Dining is so unique! I had many choices. Pick your location of ding from your room, poolside, beachfront to candlelight under the stars on the pier at the Chabil Mar. The Chef Is as talented if not more than any 5 star restaurant. Not only did prepare fabulous tasting food, he also made it look beautiful : fit for a king or queen!

The resort is beautiful and well maintained, but what really impressed us was the service. I can't say enough good things about Julie and Natalie, who repeatedly went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and made the trip so easy. They arranged several great expeditions for us. I would recommend a snorkeling day on the "Wild Orchid" boat - the crew was great. We also hired Dewayne, a tour guide from Joy Tours, to take us hiking and tubing - he was so knowledgeable about the area and was a really fun guy to spend the day with.
Other places for dining I would recommend (if you decide to leave Chabil Mar, which has great food) are Barcelona for lunch or a light dinner - it's a tapas restaurant on the beach a few miles north of Chabil Mar, and Turtle Inn, a nearby resort that has a great restaurant for a nice dinner.

Wonderful service and staff, beaurtiful grounds and condos. Upscale yet unspoiled and uncommercial.
