My husband and I just returned from our Honeymoon. We spent 7 days at Chabil Mar in January. After having to put our honeymoon on hold for about 9 months after our wedding, we were ready to cut back and enjoy some relaxation and pampering!! We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which was just pure heaven. I think it was bigger than our apartment in NJ! The decore was very warm yet had that "tropical adventure" feel.
Upon arriving after a long day and 3 flights, DeShawn greeted us with refreshing drinks as Julie gave us the tour of the grounds. When we got to our room the bags were already there. We were starving so ordered lunch as we unpacked. It was delivered with in 20 min and set up on our private deck so we could take in the warm sun!!
Over the course of the week we were treated like kings and queens, which was hard for us because the staff was so warm and friendly we wanted to hang out and talk to them, not be waited on! They knew our names right off the bat and greeted us with a 'Hi Jeff and Amy, do you need anything?" every time they passed us. When we stayed there were only about 11 guests on the whole groungs (only 22 private villas) and we have a WHOLE infinity pool to our selves for about 5 days!
Anytime we wanted to go into town we'd just take a golf cart of bikes and be there in no more than 10 minutes. The bikes are a great way to really see the stores and get a little exercise as well. We had the "Honeymoon" package so most of the meals at Chabil Mar were included. The food was definitely good and we enjoyed everything we had. The only thing I'd suggest is that we felt the dinner menu was a bit limited...after 3 or 4 dinners we were looking for something a little different, so I would suggest cutting 1 dinner out of the package. Same with breakfast. We had all 7 included and while it was so great to just roll out of bed and have your eggs waiting for you, we did wish there was a bit more variety or, a few less so we could go out into town.
We also did a few of the trips - we took the "longer" Mayan Ruins tour which was about a 3 hour ride though the country side to visit some ruins. We also did the full day of snorkeling at Laughing Bird. I'd HIGHLY recommend both but if you do the "longer" Ruins trip, prepare for a LONG day. We were gone about 12-13 hours..........
Chabil Mar provided us with the perfect mix of just relaxing and doing nothing and getting out and exploring the cute town of Placencia and beautiful country of Belize. A HUGE thank you to he amazing staff - Althea, Julie, Natalie, Jeusu, Tony, Adan and DeShawn for making us feel totally at home and at ease. We hope to see you all in the future!!
Room Tip: All the rooms are amazing you cannot go wrong. Try to get one facing the ocean if you can.
