First of all, George and Lisa are great. Their laid-back, inviting, and friendly demeanors made us feel extremely comfortable during our stay at the Westwind. The hotel is set up on a spectacular beachfront location with a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Belizean sun, people-watch, and even snorkel and swim. The hotel is also centrally located making it very easy to take a short walk to a variety of restaurants, shops, etc. The rooms themselves aren't terribly impressive, just the bare necessities with a small bathroom, shower, sink, card table, mini-fridge, and a queen bed in the room we rented. Everything barely fits in the room, but the reality is that you are likely to spend very little of your time in your room, so who cares right? The price and the incredible beachfront location make the mediocre room totally worth it. I would stay here again for sure

I think it was the day before I arrived in Placencia that I browsed a Fodor's book on Belize and went through the list of accomodations in Placencia. It sounded like the Westwind Inn was exactly what I was looking for and happily it was. I wanted a quiet and clean place on the beach with owners who could give me advice on restaurants, area activities and help with travel arrangements. Lisa and George are very accomodating and helpful when it comes to advice. My room was quiet and neat. Small but that's fine with me. I received all the help I needed when it came to recommendations for places to eat, see or how best to get back to Belize City by bus. The location is outstanding. A beautiful beachfront that you can walk for hours. Kayaks that you can borrow and close to a number of places to eat or drink. I especially appreciated teh warm muffins "for the road" the day I left. They were all I had to eat until I made it to Cancun that night. Again, if you're looking for an affordable unpretentious place to stay on the beach with the nicest most helpful owners, look no further than the Westwind Inn.

My wife and I arrived in Placencia from the Honduras ferry with no reservations and wandered randomly upon the Westwind. We were greeted by Lisa and picked the room on the side of the hotel. Initially we were only going to stay in Placencia for a day or two but thanks to the wonderful location and generosity of George and Lisa we stayed for four days. Which included Thanksgiving and they graciously invited us to spend with them and their family. Lisa did a wonderful job cooking a thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, including a number of wonderful pies.
We spent most of our time lounging in the hammock and kayaking around. We traveled all around Belize and this was the best "beach" experience we had.

My wife and I were there for 2 nights. First of she had a Cab wiating for us at the airport that we didnt know about. That was great. The place was quite and nice. The beach was out our front door. Everything you need in a place to stay while not spending too much. Thnks, Lisa for the great stay
