“Price is right.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed for 1 night while heading between Cancun and Punta Gorda. The room was adequate for the price however we did not get any hot water the evening we arrived or in the morning. Maybe if we had let the water run longer it would have warmed up but we didn't try it long enough. The room was clean and there was air conditioning. The location was right along the waterfront and there was parking in the front. Good budget option for a night.

“excellent mayan breakfast”

the price is right. right across the street from the ocean. good breeze. rooms were very clean. it has the charm of the 40's. well secured. WIFI works out on two terraces. Coffee was brought to my room in the morning on a tray covered with a lovely woven towel. we had breakfast in the dining area open to the sea breeze. excellent eggs and fresh avocado served with both buttered toast and warm tortillas. Rosita served fresh squeezed limade-yum! will definitely stay there again when we head back to Corozal.

“old world charm”

charming rooms with character, and although some might say out-dated, I liked them. Very clean and well maintained. Lovely view of the sea. The internet connection is available from the terrace and downstairs area but not in rooms. Water pressure sometimes low when showering. It is just outside the center of town, which can be walked in about 10-15 minutes

“Great value, room with a lot of character....wonderful ocean breeze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

This was our favourite hotel, in terms of value and comfort.

The room was beautiful, white sheets, white curtains, and interesting old design. Nice bathroom and shower. Balcony outside our room was great. The hotel was really old, but had a lot of character and warmth. Because it was right on the ocean, sleeping without A/C was very comfortable.

Not a lot in Corozal to do, but the town itself was really comfortable and has a different feel to much of the rest of Belize. Come here, if just for the view from Tony's on the Beach Restaurant down the street.

Every morning, the hotel owner opened up the restaurant just for our breakfast. The coffee was already made and the table was set for two. It was great.

There was a nice swimming spot right out in front of the hotel...not a beach, but a cool spot.

Stay here.

“Hotel Maya left a bad taste and it wasn't just the fake orange juice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2009

I was there a few days ago, thanks to other tripadvisor reviews, but I now feel driven to write (for the first time ever) on this website and in very negative terms.

I asked them do some laundry which wasn't cheap at 20 Belizean dollars. They "forgot" to return a treasured Beijing Olympics T-shirt, which I did indeed buy in Beijing during the Olympics. I didn't realise the omission until well into Mexico. I emailed the hotel to ask them if it could be posted to an address in Mexico. Predictably, they haven't replied. Thank you Hotel Maya.

Yes, I should have checked my returned laundry but I stupidly trusted them.

I will also add that the previous comments about the showers are too generous. They have the worst showers in the Americas. While I waited for the dribble to hit one area of my body, the rest of my body dried out!

The so-called orange juice at breakfast is basically a sugar-filled soft drink that tastes disgusting to anyone over the age of ten. The coffee was pathetically weak (and instant).

There were ants on the floor of my room because it hadn't been cleaned properly after the previous guest and yes, i did spot a small cockroach in the bathroom but it escaped quickly into a hole in the wall.

Hotel Maya doesn't even look good from the outside. This place only survives, I imagine, because the competition is weak.
