“Nothing bad to say, but I think I would find somewhere closer.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2010

I spent a few days here last summer in order to see the nearby ruins and eventually cross into Guatemala. The hostel was very neat and clean, the beds were standard for hostels. But it was bloody hot, as is most of Belize! I kept wishing for a fan, but all in all got some sleep. The showers were not warm, but trust me I wanted a cold shower. The owners are very nice and accommodating and will offer you a ride if they are going into town, but there is nothing at all nearby that you would want to walk to. It is really in the middle of nowhere. They also have their own tour packages if you are interested, the prices were competitive.

When I went to the central part of town one day, I saw many other backpackers and wondered where they were staying (I was the only one staying in Falconview at the time.) I think I would have preferred to stay somewhere else to meet other travelers but at the same time there wasnt really anything wrong with this hostel.

Hard to say if I would recommend it, but then again, I don't know the other options. Worth a shot but don't bet on it being full of travelers.

Also, it was a pain to use the internet since the nearest cafe is about 10 minutes by car.

“hamacs and coconut in san ignacio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2009

We spent two nights there with a friend of mine to visit xunantunich, cahal pech, clarissa falls and ATM caves. It was really a great time! Ray organised everything for us and it was just perfect.
The room we had have its own kitchen, two large beds and a room outside with two hamacs. It's a bit far from the city, but you can just ask Ray for having a ride somewhere.
Coconut from the garden for breakfast!

“Wonderful hosts, great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2009

My boyfriend and I spent a couple days here as a base to see Tikal. The hosts, Ray and Silvia, really made our trip; they set up our tour, helped us plan our trip, gave us a ride after we got in late at night, and even fed us breakfast before our big day at Tikal! We forgot an alarm clock so Ray kindly woke us up in the morning. They really bent over backwards to give us the trip of a lifetime!

We camped in the backyard with our tent so I don't know how the rooms are, but the bathroom facility was very tidy. It seems like the rooms held a couple of bunk beds with mosquito nets covering them. There's a tv room with a few hammocks, dining room with several tables and a full kitchen for guests to use. There was fresh fruit left in the kitchen for guests and cheap beer in the fridge for guests to buy. The hostel is in a neighborhood and is only a 10-15 minute walk to the center of town.

I cannot express how friendly and kind Ray and Silvia are. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!
