“Would not consider staying anywhere else!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We spent 4-5 nights at Parrot Nest Lodge recently. This is the first place we decided to go to in Belize. We picked it at first because there were many activities we could do from there and it just seemed fun overall. The fact that there is only 6 cabins makes for a intimate ambiance. Everybody we met there was so nice and we barely spent any time in our room. Theo was great in helping to organize activities and I felt completely at home. They have a lot of pets which are all very sweet. I liked that we were a bit away from the city but could still go there by collectivo (kind of a public taxi) for just 2 dollars.

From there we went to Tikal, we did the ATM, Barton Creek Cave, Cahal Pech and the iguana farm.

The only negative point I could find is that Theo cooks so well that it doesn't make you feel like going out in town to try all the other food! ;-)

Everybody there was very quiet and respectful but there were some nights you could hear dogs barking or roosters from the village but nothing that earplugs can't fix.

Room Tip: We had reserved a treehouse and then a cabana because we didn't know how much we would enjoy the...

We stayed at Parrot Nest Lodge for a few days at the start of January and loved it. The log cabins feel really eco-friendly and the communal area is the perfect place to chat and meet other travellers after a hard day out doing activities! Beers, soda, tea and coffee are all available as well as an evening meal if you want it (all rates are so reasonable!)

Just a really lovely place to stay - would definitely recommend!

“San Ignacio, Belize...Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed at Parrot Nest Lodge over the Christmas holiday. We are a family of four with two boys ages 11 & 14. What a fantastic time we all had. We were made to feel like part of the family. Our hostess was amazing. The food was fantastic, her help in organizing trips was superb and the advice we were given was absolute perfect. The kids swam in the river, caught an iguana, and the fireflies and night are quite a sight. We stayed in cabin six and having separate beds for our boys was great. I would highly recommend staying here! I really wish we could have stayed longer and when we go back to Belize this is definately where we will be staying. Thank you for helping us create fantastic family memories.

“Parrot Nest Lodge”

we really enjoyed our stay at the parrot nest lodge. the owners had fantastic suggestions for activities, with economy in mind. the food was great, if a little expensive. definitely worth at least one dinner, though, as the community table was very conducive to meeting other travelers (and i'm usually pretty shy about that). do keep in mind that it is quite rustic, and the treehouses are tiny, and the jungle is damp. but that's just the kind of experience it is. we rented the treehouse, and were concerned about trips to the community bathroom at night. turns out it was no problem at all. well lit and very close. it is very easy to get into town, although you will have to pay for a taxi. the tour companies pickup/dropoff at the front door, though.

“A fun place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

My sister and I stayed at the Parrot Nest for two nights in the beginning of January. It was a really wonderful experience. Theo was extremely helpful and took good care of us. She also is am amazing cook! Dinner is a community affair - everyone sits together and it's a great way to get to know the other guests. We made some great friends!

The ambiance is quite nice as well - very lush with many birds and a beautiful river view. We stayed in Treehouse 2 and it was small but comfortable. It rained the entire time we were there and I was grateful that there was a relaxing common area where I could sit and read and watch the river while staying warm and dry. Theo has a small library of books that you can borrow. She also has three adorable, friendly dogs, a couple of cats and a parrot. The dogs were so fun to play with!

We only stayed two nights and wish we could have stayed for longer! If I ever go back to Belize, Parrot Nest will be the first place I book. Thanks for a wonderful visit, Theo!
