I loved my stay at Casa Blanca Hotel. My husband first discovered it when in Belize on business, and he enjoyed it so much he stayed there 2 weeks. And that says a lot right there (if you knew my husband). Run by Betty Guerra and her mother, from the moment you walk in you will be made to feel right at home! The Guerra family has a very interesting history in Belize, and Mr. Guerra (now deceased), was once the mayor of San Ignacio. The location is excellent - right on Burns Ave, which is the main street of downtown. The security gate is always locked, and guests have their own key to enter the premises. Guests share a community livingroom and kitchen, complete with fridge and cooking area (kitchen fully equipped). The rooms have cable TV, some have A/C, all have private bathrooms with hot water showers. The entire hotel is spotless clean. A balcony faces the front street, and guests can sit outside, enjoy a cold beer and watch the comings and goings on Burns Avenue. It is also just a few doors down from the police station, and this part of town boasts little crime. Within walking distance of the Macal River, the saturday market (the best in Belize), grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, 5 minute walk from the theatre, many tour operators within 2 or 3 minutes, and just a five minute short walk from the bus terminal! Casa Blanca also received an award for the "Best Little Hotel in Belize" a few years ago (awarded by the Tourism Board of Belize) - which says a lot right there! All in all, I highly recommend you check out Casa Blanca for your next San Ignacio visit! You will be glad you did!
