“Extraordinary experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Having spent a month in Belize, Cay Caulker, Placentia, Crooked Tree, and The Cayo district. the experience was like eating a cake of many layers. MET, was the icing on that wonderful cake.
The setting is magnificent. The food delicious, fun and varied. We got to help cooking one night and were able to add to a already fabulous menu, what fun.The activities in the area are varied and available to all ages and levels of expertise.
However the best part are the people. The Beavis family and the wonderful staff at MET make you feel part of their extended family. They are so willing to share their vast knowledge of the jungle and it's flora and fauna that one comes away with a feeling of having learned many new things and best of all making new friends. Thank you all. Kari and Susan

“Simply Wonderful, MET is someplace you should go....soon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I had guest visiting me from the states ( I live on Ambergris Caye) and they wanted a jungle experience. A friend suggested we stay at MET. It was the perfect experience on sooo many levels. The Bevis family were outstanding host. Our cottages were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The property is breathtaking, the food was delicious and the excursions were fantastic. We rode horses over to the zipline, then over to the caves which we explored by canoe. I have already made plans to return next month.
Thanks for a great time!
Veronica

“MET really is one of the '1001 places to see before you die'!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I originally found MET in the book "1001 Places to See Before You Die" and the author was absolutely right. Unfortunately our stay wasn't long enough, but the time that we spent there was unforgetable. If you want a truly authentic trip to the Belizian jungle, MET is the place, they are the real deal.

I reccomend having them pick you up at the airport. Aaron was waiting for us when we got off the plane and was so personable. He answered all of our questions from Belizian history to culture to food, he gave us a great introduction, no need for a guidebook! We stopped along the way to get coconuts and grapefruits from an orchard and even stopped for a Belikin, the official beer of Belize.

Which leads me to the food. It was fantastic. Everything is cooked fresh from local fruits/veggies/meat and a lot of it they even grow in their own garden on the ranch. As Jim and Margurite said (the owners), "the food's gotta be good, we eat here too!". You will definitely eat and drink well.

The Cabanas are clean and romantically lit with kerosene lanterns. The beds are comfortable and there were fresh tropical flowers in the room when we got there. There isn't electricity in the rooms, which I loved, but don't worry, there is hot water. And in the Cantina, you can get wifi and charge electronics etc.

Amy knew our itinerary better than I did! They organized a trip for us to go to Tikal (Mayan Ruins) in Guatemala and on the way back, Brad took us to the local market (I love markets) and showed us around San Ignacio. The next day we rode horses through the jungle with Rigo and he taught us all about the different plants and their uses. I've never ridden a horse and my horse was so well trained that I felt like a pro by the end.

I've done a lot of travelling and I've never found a place like MET, it's really a gem and if you are looking for an authentic experience in the Belizian jungle, MET is the place!!

“Can't wait to come back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed at MET for 4 nights and wished we had been able to stay longer. I have never experienced a vacation like this. A personal and kind group of people run and work at MET. The food was delicious and the riding was fun, not to mention the beautiful scenery that we woke up to every morning. If you are looking for a comfortable jungle adventure you have found the place. MET is a perfect balance of feeling like you are "camping" but without the tent or food worries. In other words staying here is not like staying at a resort but it is not roughing it by any means. The staff does a great job at keeping the rooms clean and comfortable, and at night when you are resting after a day of riding they make sure you have had plenty to eat and drink. We felt very welcomed and a part of the family there. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer to check out more places!

My boyfriend and I went to ring in 2012 at MET and I couldn't be happier! In the 5 days we spent there I wasn't expecting to have experienced as much as we did and was beyond amazed. Our days were filled with long rides through sublime terrain, picnic lunches next to waterfalls, exploring Mayan caves and million dollar mountain views. Our guide Rego was highly knowledgeable and informed us about all the flora and fauna along the way as well as the history of the area. The horses were just fantastic and really seemed to enjoy the rides every day as much as we did. Our hosts Arran, Allison, Amy and Brad were so gracious we felt like part of the family right from the beginning. The cabanas are suprisingly comfortable and listening to rain fall on the thatched roofs will whisk you right to sleep. I really appreciated how they tailored the days events to fit in with our needs and wishes. The home cooked meals were outstanding (and better than most restaurants in Manhattan) I'd have them pack me a lunch any day! The knowledge that everyone has and shares with you about the area and wildlife really enhanced the experience. I would have rode right past those Jaguar prints if someone didn't point them out! I couldn't agree more with the other reviewers and can't think of enough positive things to say about this amazing experience. Would go back in a heartbeat!
