This hotel was a real treat. The rooms were spacious, bathroom huge, deluxe and very clean. Wonderful swimming pool. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful in planning events or recommending things to do. The real surprise was the birds. There was a huge tree outside the dining room that the birds came to each morning. We didn't have to hike in the jungle to see these birds. Up at 6AM, coffee was ready and we would watch the birds arrive. We saw the summer tanager, blue crowned motmots, great kiskadee, plain chchalacas, rufous tailed hummingbird, golden-fronted woodpecker, red-lored parrot, lineated woodpecker, aracaris, the list goes on and on. Birding was wonderful. Mariano, the person in charge of the restaurant, was very friendly and super knowledgeable about the birds. We'd eat breakfast about 7AM then later head off for our day's activities. San Ignacio Hotel is a great location to do lots of things in Belize. We'd highly recommend this hotel.

We totally enjoyed the hotel and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The bird watching was a great addition as well. The hotel was quiet and restful with lovely paintings, a nice pool, lovely gardens and trail. The staff helped us arrange a couple excursions that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Good rooms and bathrooms. Quiet location, very nice staff. Wonderful birdwatching on the restaurant patio at 6:30am, with bird book kept on the deck. Must do the Green Iguana tour. it was a highlight! Good hotel restaurant; didn't find anything in town better.

We stayed 3 nights at the San Ignacio Hotel and were delighted with the hotel and it's location. It is in a beautiful spot up on a hill overlooking the city and a bit of a peaceful respite from the bustling, local scene only a couple blocks away. The pool area and gardens are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and the beds are really comfortable. We left our balcony screen door open at night and just turned on the overhead fans, but we did also have air conditioning. The staff members were fabulous, friendly and very helpful. They made great suggestions about places to go and things to see in town and around. We had a car and were able to drive to the places ourselves and saves a lot of money. The restaurant at the hotel was good and the steak was excellent as they have their own ranch...it is one of the few places in Central America with good steak! Breakfast on their restaurant balcony was delightful as birds of all types flock to the trees right there. We found the San Ignacio Hotel a much better option than staying 30-40 minutes out of town at another resort.
