The lodge has a number of different sized cabanas, as well as a dorm like building with a common veranda, perfect for a family or large group, and all nestled within a very lush jungle like setting, just on the edge of San Ignacio. I believe all of the rooms have air conditioning and private bathrooms, and are clean, well maintained and modestly decorated. The owners are planning to convert at least a portion of the cabanas to a B+B style as well as perhaps add a few kitchenettes, perhaps by the later part of 2012 or 2013, so if you are planning a stay at this lodge you should ask about that. This lodge is not for the spoiled, needy crowd, although I was able to get a really great massage an hour after arriving.
It is simply a great relaxing, quiet place, very reasonably priced with fantastic food and wonderfully genuine people who are willing to give you 110% service. Marcela, the chef on duty during our visit, surprised us every night with wonderfully prepared Belizian dishes. There is also a small pool to relax and cool off. The lodge is within easy walking distance to the town of San Ignacio and Bart and Suzie are happy to set up any tour that interests you. (We did a canoe tour down the Macaw, visited the Iguana farm, and toured one of several Mayan Ruin sites during our 4 day stay.) This lodge is one of my top picks for your next trip to Belize.
