“Very Nice! The KOA of Belize!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Absolutely Loved this place! Love the open air dining, the family run atmosphere and the Lovely grounds. Chena Gálvez made us feel right at home and our three year old would often say during the day that he could hardly wait to get back to tell Chena something. The cottages are quite nice. The pictures on their web site don't do them justice. They are clean and fairly spacious. Cool even when it's hot out. Bring a flashlight!!!
The food was really good, our children still talk about the orange and lemon juice made fresh to order, that is was the best they have ever had! We loved to try the different Belizian foods and were quite spoiled by the time we left. We really enjoyed the conversations we had with Chena and her family, especially the interest and time they had for the children.
Thanks for the wonderful Memories and for setting up all the transportation that we needed! The road to get to Clarissa Falls is quite rough, we were wondering if we were on or off the beaten path?!? If you are into "resorts" and room service this is not your place, however if you are into meeting people and seeing more of a "true" Belize you are at the right place. We felt right at home and would love to return!
My only con was the hard beds, beyond that it was a very very nice place.
My only regret is that I didn't bring more hand-me-downs to leave with Chena for the children in the village. I would recommend that anyone going here stuff all the left over pockets and corners of your bags with school supplies and clothes for the village children, as Chena has made it her mission to look out for them. I brought just a couple things and wished I had shared so much more. Next time!!!!

“A Wonderful "Experience"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

Clarissa Falls Cabanas/Resort has clean, comfortable, affordable accommodation in the San Ignacio area ($75 US / night). Situated next to Clarissa Falls on the Mopan River, it is close to both adventure and ruins. The owner, Chena, will arrange for the best tour guides in the district to take you on the adventure of your dreams .... from an ATM Cave Tour, to Tikal, or River Tubing, or canoeing into Barton Creek ... whatever your heart desires. If you choose to kick back and relax there are hammocks located throughout the property that call your name. The restaurant provides excellent, Belizean home-cooked meals and fresh fruit juices that will tantalize your taste buds. Clarissa Falls is an excellent choice for the traveller who wants to “experience” Belize.

“Best experience you could ask for.”

From the staff, to the view of Xunantunich from their roof through the tree tops, to the meals made from scratch every night. Clarissa Falls Resort is by far for the best bang for your buck you could ask for when traveling to the Cayo District of Belize.
My wife and I stayed at Clarissa Falls Resort from 9/24/11-9/27/11. It rained only once for roughly 20 minutes. Just long enough to cool everything off, and beat back what little insects there were for the day.

We planned all of our trips through Clarissa Falls, and they exceeded all of our expectations.

We took a horseback ride to Xunantunich, which was wonderful. They guide was very helpful and informative. He showed us so many interesting things along the way. And, on the trip back he was kind enough to stop by the market and gave us some time to shop.

We also took a trip to Guatemala to visit the ruins of Tikal. Again, our guide (different from the horseback trip) was the kindest, most informed person you could ask for. He knew right when to go, how to get to all the "out of the way, interesting" spots and never stopped giving us information about the different sites, chambers, and temples.

Our last day at Clarissa Falls, we relaxed, went to San Ignacio and shopped, and enjoyed the local life.

Don't let the lower price fool you about this resort. They have all you could ask for and more. They may not have a pool, but they have a river with a waterfall, they may not have a beach, but they have a view, and they will do everything they can to make you feel like family while you stay. Their rooms are small and rustic, but comfortable and clean. And, their surroundings are so wonderful, you will forget why you ever wanted to leave.

Room Tip: All of their rooms are next to the river, about 20 feet above the water level. You will be lulled to...

“Very Special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

I'm a bit late in posting this report, especially considering how much my husband and I think about our visit to Clarissa Falls since returning home! It's a place you can really settle into. SO comfortable, with the river running languidly alongside, hammocks, attractive grounds with plentiful vegetation and birdlife.
I can't say enough good things about the host family. Chena is a sweetheart. She bent over backwards to get in nearly everything we had dreamed of doing and seeing in our too -short three night stay. We were confused about which day we were to take an outside tour, Instead of being annoyed,Chena took us on a personal tour of nearby area, pointing out medicinal plants all along the way, as well as ancient mounds. She then arranged for us to go horse-back riding on their trails after a yummy lunch. Chena's son, Mark, is a great guy, fun to talk to, and his young daughter is sweet and so bright.
The food at Clarissa Falls was the best we had on our entire trip. Homemade and oh-so-reasonable. Papaya milkshakes, an incredible seafood soup, and Huevas Rancheros (sp?) were our favorites.
The cabins are basic, but that's what we were looking for. Absolutely perfect. I'm jealous of anyone who is staying here soon!
