Nothing too fancy but the rooms are clean, small pool for the kids to take a "dunk" and we found the seafood dinner very good. Staff at the Aguada are very friendly and accomodating. Previously owned by Bill and Cathy Butcher (just retired), the hotel is now owned and managed by their daughter "Shaloo" who is in the process of "sprucing" things up. We have probably stayed at the hotel 3 or 4 times and will continue to patronize this business.

Stayed at the Aguada for one week in November.
It's not close to the city center, luckily we had a car so transportation was not an issue.
I think we were the only guests for the week, so the service provided especially by Julia B was incredible. She was so hospitable and engaging.
The rooms were decent, and cable tv was readily available.
We had breakfast daily in the restaurant and the choices were quite decent.
They even prepared lunch for our day trek into the ruins for us.
On a whole, the Aguada is a decent stay, and affordable.

We stayed at the Aguada in January 2012. From the moment we walked into the restaurant/lobby we felt warmly drawn in. Rooms are simple but clean and easy to access. Such a relaxed atmosphere...coffee brewing in the morning, staff always available to answer questions and help us out.
We had breakfast in the restaurant each morning...the menu had a little something for everyone and the food was delicious.
I'd definitely choose the Aguada again!

Our stay was between Christmas and New Years 2011. It's in Santa Elana, right beside San Ignacio. Easy taxi access to town. The rooms are very affordable, ours was $45 and night, and $55 +tax is as high as it gets. The restautant has great food (the fried chicken and lime drink are GREAT.) You can dine inside or outside. The people are really nice. The rooms are clean and stylish. Showers have hot water. Clean swimming pool. If your idea of a vacation is to spend as much time "outside" of your hotel room, and either in town or enjoying the Mayan ruins, then don't pay a lot for your room. This is a great economical place to stay. Save yourself $100 a night. You will enjoy the Aguada Hotel
