We travelled to Belize in February 2011 for a holiday. Our original intention was to stay at The Red Hut Inn for one week, but Julia and Lewis made us so welcome we decided to stay for the rest of the three weeks holiday.Actually my wife, being Belizean, stayed a further week to see more members of her family.
Lewis is an expert cook. On the first day he prepared a mouth watering omlette-based breakfast with eggs tasting better than any I have ever eaten.Although we boarded on a room-only basis, breakfast and/or an evening meal was always available on request. A chinese restaurant was was within easy walking distance if required.
Julia and other members of the staff were always willing to ferry us around to Belize City, or other places of interest, at a reasonable charge.Julia and Lewis are a lovely couple, always ready to give us good advice to get the most out of our holiday. We were also lucky to meet up with "Trisha", one of the permanent residents, who also doubles up as a tourist guide. Although British, she has an immense knowledge of Mayan history, and took us on a really informative tour of the Mayan ruins of Altan Ha.She also organised a trip to "Jaguar Park" so that our grandson could go cave-tubing, and helped out in ferrying us around the area.
The Red Hut Inn(RHI), an intimate establishment, is a bit like a small motel located in a pleasant residential district in the suburbs of Belize City. We have very happy memories of our time at the RHI, and when we return to Belize for another holiday we would be more than happy to stay there again.
